The green light came forward at me at a merciless pace and I sucked in a harsh breath, expecting it to hit me any second.
Then, just before it was close enough to end me something else replaced the green in my vision.
Suddenly, time seemed to be slowed down as I slowly realized what had blocked my view.
It had been my brother's face.
The green lightning hit his back and his face, his eyes widened and scared, froze for a second before it relaxed. He sank to the ground, first to his knees before falling to his side.
It had all happened in the blink of an eye.
I looked down in shock, able to hear my own heartbeat in my ears. Johnny laid on the ground, unmoving. I exhaled, my breath trembling. Johnny still didn't move. He didn't get up. His eyes were looking at nothing.
He was...dead.
I felt something twist deep inside of me and I screamed, sinking to my knees.
All of the sudden time was flowing normally again and everything around me was red. The flames had changed color.
I screamed as I reached out for Johnny, crying uncontrollably as I pulled his head onto my lap.
I could hear people screaming for me but I couldn't look up, my gaze focused on my brother. My tears fell onto his shirt but he kept unmoving. I could feel my heart break by the second.
