Draco Pov
The plan had failed and Lia was more than pissed at all of us which was outright scary. Yesterday during lunch she had just stared at me the whole time but her gaze was so vicious that I didn't dare to lift my fork even once. God knows what she did to my food.
Potter was more annoying than ever. He certainly possessed a hero complex and kept bothering me to push her further. I suggested that he read the school motto.
You don't tickle a sleeping dragon.
Yet eventually he annoyed me into getting to my last resort. Him and his friends were a plague.
"Where are we going?" Lia groaned for the fifth time as I dragged her through the castle by her wrist. I had given her no further information other than "We need to talk" before taking off with her. She was more than displeased.
"Draco tell me now or I will-" she stopped in her words as I came to a halt.
We were in the forbidden forest together, only a few steps away from where I wanted to take her.
"I wanted to talk to you about something in peace, without anyone listening," I spoke, slowly taking a few steps ahead. Lia was bound to follow me as I still held onto her wrist.
"Well, can you finally spill it?" she huffed. I dragged her further and there we were. The little clearing of the forbidden forest with the big tree.
I turned around to see Lia's expression. Her eyes were on me and annoyance was written in them.
"So?" she asked expectantly. Well, I guess I had to make a show out of it.
I walked up to the large tree, feeling her eyes on my back. Once I finally reached it I turned around and leaned against the wood, my eyes piercing through hers. She furrowed her brows as she looked at me. It worked. She was starting to recognize the place.
"I'm not going to do it," I spoke and she looked back at me, confusion written all over her face.
"What do you mean?" she asked. Her eyes strayed from my face again and she kept looking around, her pupils shaking.
"I'm not going to finish the mission. I won't do what he told me to," I said slowly.
Lia looked back at me, her expression slowly changing from confusion to anger.
"You can't just not do it," she gritted between her teeth. I shrugged, reaching my hand out to grasp some of the green leaves.
"They used to be black for a short while, do you remember?" I asked, my eyes on them.
She stomped forward, grabbing me by my tie,
"Draco!" she called angrily.
"It was you who turned them black," I said. Lia's eyes hushed from my face to the leaves and then back to me. Her mixture of irritation and anger was clear.
"He will kill you if you don't do it and you know that! It's one thing to fail and another to give up!" she gritted between her teeth.
"Don't you remember this place?" I asked her. She slapped me across the face and I took it, ignoring her anger.
"Draco you can't just-"
"You used to spend almost every day here with him. I know you remember, Lia,"
Her breathing was staggered as she looked around in confusion, her gaze going up to the leaves. She furrowed her brows and clenched her jaw.
"You know who I am talking about. Say his name," I demanded. Lia shuddered, her eyes still on the tree.
"His name, Lia," I called loudly, making her flinch away. I could see it in her eyes, in the way she began to shake. She was so so close. It would just need one more push.
"Cedric," I hissed his name. Her head snapped back to me, her eyes blown wide.
I grabbed onto her shoulders, shaking her.
"Wake up, Lia!" I called. She tried to resist my grasp but I held onto her tightly, forcing me to look at her.
"When will you realize that this isn't what they would have wanted for you! Do you think Diggory or your brother would've wanted you to join him? To live like you do now?"
Her teeth began clattering but I ignored the heartwrenching sight, grabbing onto her so hard that my fingers hurt,
"Lia, your brother would be ashamed of you!" I called, hoping it would shake her awake.
What a horrible, horrible choice of words.
In only the matter of seconds her face morphed from sadness to haunting rage. Her upper lip curled up and she revealed her fangs, her eyes a different color than before.
Oh shit.
"If you won't do it I will," she growled, putting her hands flat against my chest before digging her sharp nails into my skin. I groaned in pain as she pushed me away. A ball of fire appeared in her hand and she hurtled it towards me. I ducked it and it met the tree, the wood catching on fire immediately.
I backed away but in that second a branch fell down, caging me. I looked up at Lia and saw her watch the tree burn in shock, her mouth ajar.
"STOP THIS LIA," I called and as her eyes landed on me her face morphed into anger again. She replaced her reasurfing memories with her hatred for me. Fucking shit.
She turned around and ran away, leaving me with the burning tree.
