The silence before battle was terrifying. I stood on the astronomy tower, the highest spot of the school, watching as the teachers, aurors, wizards and students conjured a magical field around the school. I inhaled the fresh air deeply and closed my eyes, telling my body to focus.

When I opened them again I could see way far ahead than before. I could see one crowd, assembling in front of the bridge where students stood on. Then I could see the other crowd, on the rocks far away.

I exhaled before raising my wand in the air. I could always do fine without it but today I would need to channel my energy. The sky started rumbling and I felt the electricity run through me like a thousand times before. As time passed the shield was slowly breaking, the crowds getting ready to attack. I'd have to wait for the exact right moment.

I could hear a yell carried by the wind and then there was a bright flash. Voldemort had broken the shield.

This was it. The crowds, death eaters, savages, followers, giants, spiders...all of them ran towards Hogwarts.

And in that moment I let the lightning strike down. I let it destroy the bridges that led to the school, I let it wander wildly between the rows of enemies. The yelling had begun, people from both sides falling. So far it was mostly his side though and it caused me to smile. I could deal with the guilt later, for now I had to protect my friends. My family.

Prepare to die tonight, child. You are too destructive for your own good.

I clenched my jaw when I heard Voldemorts voice inside my head. Cold and dangerous, sending shivers down my spine.

I will make it that you'll destroy yourself.

I glared into the night, fire enlightening in my hands.

''Not if we destroy you first,'' I replied. Then I let myself fall off the tower.

As I flew down I shot the fire in my hands at the Death Eaters running in from the grounds, catching them by surprise. I appareted away before they could get back at me.

''You did great, Ms. Kim!'' Mcgonnagal called as she fought and I smiled as I ran past her. I'm sure they were trying to get from the other side of the castle as well so I ran through it, sending curse after curse away.

As I ran ahead I suddenly fell over something, causing me to yelp as I collided with the ground. I turned to see what I had fallen over and yelled in shock. It was the body of someone. Someone I knew.

''Oh no...'' I whispered, my shaking hand coming forward to touch the face of Daniel Martens, his eyes wide open.

I released a shaky breath and closed his eyes with my fingertips. Then, before I could stand up, I was blown away into the nearest wall. I felt multiple things inside of me crack and I groaned. A death eater appeared in front of me and growled at me with sharp fangs. Ah, half werewolf.

''You're the bitch that killed our alpha,'' he said before punching me.

''He had it coming,'' I said, spitting blood back at him. He raised his wand to yell a curse but I used my supernatural strength to kick him away. I wiped the blood from my face away with my sleeve and ran forward, leaving Daniel behind.

''KIM!'' I heard someone yell, making me turn around. Dean Thomas was standing on a staircase, his hands around his mouth as he called for me.

''THEY NEED YOU UP-''

Before Dean could finish an explosion struck the outer wall, sending concrete between us. I couldn't see him through all the dust, trying to swallow that awful gut feeling that I wouldn't be seeing him ever again.

''Upstairs?'' I asked myself, turning around to find the nearest staircase that led to the towers that hadn't been blown away yet. I ran across a corner and saw two death eaters cornering three third years and the sight made my fangs expose themselves. One raised their wands at them and I appeared behind them, pushing my hands through their backs. Once I pulled out of their bodies I held their hearts in my hands and they sunk to the ground. I didn't want to think about the traumatizing image this left for the three children as they ran off to safety.

I kept running and running, finally reaching a staircase when-

I only felt someone grabbing me and then I was pulled into all directions. I was ready to fight when I finally appeared on steady ground again but my fist reaching out to punch whoever had apparated me away was stopped. I growled and tried to kick for the person but then I was pulled forward...into a hug. For a second I was utterly confused and then-

I recognized the cologne and gasped. I pushed myself away to look into his face, not believing what I was seeing.

''Draco,'' I breathed. Draco didn't say anything, just grabbed my face in his hands and surged down to kiss me. We clung onto each other so desperately that I almost forgot that we were in the middle of battle.

Until an incredible pain hit my back and I screamed into the kiss. Draco pulled away from me in shock and then his eyes went to something behind me, widening even more. I heard a shrill laugh and stilled when I recognized it.

''I knew you'd come for her, dear nephew,'' Bellatrix Lestrange said. Then she pulled the dagger out of my back and I was pulled into all directions again.
