"Focus. Focus. Focus," I mumbled to myself as I searched for my chakra. I felt the familiar feeling of my body being pulled, but then I felt a different and more unsettling feeling. I had transported to my kunai, but unfortunately, I hadn't focused enough on my chakra and was now falling down in mid-air just a couple of feet in front of Jiraiya and Naruto. I tried to flip around to land on my feet, but the exhaustion of my training had finally caught up to me, "son of a bitch!" I shouted as I did the only thing I could possibly do which was brace myself for impact as my body got closer and closer to the ground.
"Woah there kid!" Jiraiya shouted as he dived and caught me just inches before I made contact with the ground. Fortunately for me, I didn't get hurt at all, unfortunately, however, Jiraiya ended up getting a face-full of dirt. "Uhg what the hell kind of shenanigans are you doing now?" Jiraiya asked as he sat me down on the ground where I attempted to catch my breath. I was more out of chakra than I was actual oxygen, but try telling my body the difference I dare you.
"It's called training..... I was trying to increase...... my transportation .....jutsu," I explained. "You're trying to expand the distance aren't you," he asked me. I took a small moment to slow down my breathing until it was back to normal, "yeah," I said as I tried to stand up. My legs, however, had different plans. They were still super weak, but luckily Naruto was there to keep me from falling over this time. "Wait. Have you been doing that this whole time!?" Jiraiya shouted at me.
"Yeah. I'm surprised you didn't notice," I mentioned. "Honestly I just thought you were lagging behind because you were in your head again," Jiraiya mentioned. I glared at him, "what exactly is that supposed to mean," I asked him. "I said what I said kid, and it seems while Naruto is focused on not running away you are focused on the opposite," Jiraiya called me out. I could feel my hair rise, "huh!? You tryin to say something, old man!?" I shouted at him as I tried to use my own strength to stand up again, only for my legs to buckle and have to rely on Naruto once again.
"Hey now Pervy Sage. Watch it. I'm still attached to her at the moment," Naruto warned him, his face obviously pale from fear of being this close to an angry me. "You're upset with yourself for not being able to get both boys out of that situation with Itachi and Kisame. It was a smart and obvious, choice for you to want to run to escape them, but that can't be your only course of action forever. You can only dodge for so long. You need to hone in on your other skills as well. You don't need to be able to transport across the country," Jiraiya lectured me.
I hadn't thought of my transportation jutsu like that before, and honestly, my pride was a little wounded by being called out like that, and I couldn't help but blush from getting embarrassed. "E-easy there Pervy Sage," Naruto warned him as he tried to pull away from me without pulling away. Him trembling reminded me once again about my damn temper, so I tried to calm myself down. My hair already lowering.
"No more of that training right now. You're exhausted as it is, and we've made it to our destination see?" Jiraiya stated as he pointed behind me. Naruto and I looked back and saw a giant hole in the ground with a fence circling the edge. We walked over to it and both Naruto and my eyes widened at the sight down below. There was a whole town down there and it looked like they were having some type of festival.
We walked down the stairs, and I finally regained enough strength to walk on my own again. "Ah man, this is gonna be great. I've never seen anything like this before in my life," Naruto said as he looked around the town. There were so many people down here, and it was a little uncomfortable for me as well. Especially since I noticed people already pointing and mumbling about my hair.
"Downtime is important. So have a little fun you two before we start your training. This festival will be going on for a while. We'll hunker down here until it's over. And then we'll start your training here too," Jiraiya explained. "All right!" Naruto shouted. I was a little more hesitant to cheer. I wasn't sure if I was ready to have someone else train me. I felt like I had bad karma or some weird curse on me. I mean if you add Kakashi and Iruka, I've had four senseis now and half of them have died. With those odds, I had a 50% chance of having another sensei killed. Pervy Sage pissed me off more than even Kakashi did, but that didn't mean I wanted him to die either.
