Johnny and Miguel soon went back to the waiting room where now Amanda and Sam had joined the others. Sam would be ok, she just needed to take it easy with her broken ribs. Johnny and Miguel took a seat and everyone just sat in silence, no one wanting to talk about what happened. Johnny felt like it was his fault in a sense. Robby was his son after all.
Sam looked around at everyone, noticing the solemn looks on their faces. She had an idea. "One time, when I was upset, Y/N came over with a bunch of junk food and acted out a bunch of skits to make me laugh." She spoke up, causing the others to look at her. They all smiled. It was definitely something she would do. "One time when Y/N was at our house, she found me in the dojo doing some karate and she told me I looked like an old praying mantis," Daniel spoke up, making the others laugh.
They all took turns exchanging their own stories about her, some sweet, some funny. By the end, the tears that left their eyes were of laughter instead of sadness. Everyone's favorite was the story of her calling Johnny dad.
Hours ticked away and it was nearly time for them to leave. Reluctantly, with no new news about her condition, they all had to go home until the hospital called. Johnny wrote himself down as her legal guardian. It made sense since he was one of the only things she had close to a parent. It's not like hers would care anyways. Johnny actually forgot they existed since he had never seen them or met them. How was he supposed to tell them?
The LaRusso's bid goodbye to Johnny and the Diaz's as they all climbed into Johnny's Challenger. The ride home was silent, no one knew what to say. Miguel couldn't stop thinking about her, not just her condition, but everything. If he had just worked up the courage to ask her out then maybe everything would've been different. Instead of her laying in his bed, watching movies, she's was lying unconscious in a hospital bed, with a very small chance of walking up. This is all my fault.
Miguel felt more tears well up as Johnny pulled into the parking lot of their apartment complex. As soon as the car was in park, Miguel was out of the car, speed walking towards his apartment. Once he reached his door, he quickly unlocked it and ran to his room, falling onto his bed. He pulled out his phone and opened up his Instagram.
He scrolled through his page, smiling at the pictures of them. He used to have a lot of pictures of the two of them but once he was started dating Tory, he got scared she might get the wrong idea, so he archived them. Looking back, he probably shouldn't have cared. Scrolling through he reposted them with a smile before deciding to check out her profile.
He clicked on her username, her page popping up. Her whole feed was a mix of either him, Sam, and Aisha, with him being the majority. She also had one of her and Johnny. They looked like father and daughter. Little did Miguel know, across the way, Johnny was doing the same thing he was.
Johnny had downloaded Instagram only because Y/N had practically forced him. Told him it'd be great for business. He had a few followers, some were from Cobra Kai and others were a mix of old high school friends and people he didn't know. Johnny went onto Y/N's account and looked at the pictures, mostly seeing the pictures of her and Miguel. He couldn't believe how blind the boy was, she was practically wearing heart eyes in every picture with him. Johnny smiled and was about to exit her page when he noticed the picture she had posted of them.
He remembered when Miguel has taken the picture. It had been a rather long and rigorous day at the dojo and Johnny had sat down to take a breather. Y/N sat down next to him, and laid her head on his shoulder, causing him to look at her weirdly. "What are you doing?" He asked. "Resting, duh. What else would I be doing?" She answered with her usual sarcastic tone. He rolled his eyes causing her to laugh which in turn made him smile. Miguel, at this point, whipped his phone out and took the picture, her head on his shoulder and both of them had giant smiles on their faces.
Johnny smiled at the photo. He looked down and his smile became even bigger when he noticed the caption. "See, dad does know how to smile, Miguel." Miguel had even commented. "Only when you're around, daughter Lawerence." There were actually a few comments between Miguel and Y/N, both of them firing back about who was Johnny's unofficial kid. Johnny rolled his eyes at their antics. Those two were practically made for each other.
He went to his own page and looked at the photos he posted. He posted two, one of the dojo for promotional reasons and a group picture of the kids in front of the building. Miguel and Y/N had their arms around each other, Aisha and Hawk were standing back to back with their arms crossed and the rest were all smiling.
Johnny clicked on the little plus button on the bottom and scrolled through his pictures until he found the one he was looking for. It was a picture of Johnny and Y/N, with Miguel in the back photobombing. Johnny had wanted more pictures of the kids in action so he put Aishia in charge of it.
Johnny had walked around, watching this kids practice. Deciding to have some fun, he went to Y/N and stood in front of her in his stance. She had rolled her eyes and got in her stance, a goofy grin on her face. Aishia walked by, noticing this, took the photo. It was one of Johnny's favorites.
After finding it, he decided to write a caption. "No one messes with daughter Lawrence." It was bitter sweet but he felt like it fit. He clicked post and shut off his phone before falling into his head bed, tears forming again. What was he going to do without that kid?
