Chapter Fourteen

The Deal

He said he will be here in twenty minutes. I was still in my room waiting for his text. Every minute was torture it was like mocking me that I was about to lose my virginity. Several times I wanted to change my decision but our family needed it. It will save the shop too.

Tense waiting inside my room I walked out of it and tip toed to go downstairs. Charles was snoring now and I was thankful for that. I was about to cross the living room when a person appeared in front of me. I almost pissed myself for that one.

It was dad. Least person I wanted to see this very moment especially that I was about to do something….blasphemous.

He was looking at me strangely. But there was pain in it. "Don't, Summer" he chocked in pain.

How the hell did he know it?! Did he eavesdrop earlier or he thought he will keep an eye on me? He knows I'll do anything to help them that's how much I love them.

"I heard you, Sum," he muttered, "Please don't go. I can still fix this,"

"I know you can dad, but it would be too late...look...just go attend the summons, dad. I'll be alright and I'll return....just....just pretend that I was sneaking out to see someone…." I told him, pleading like him.

"I never meant you to do this in a million, Sum, I promise to your biological mom I will take good care of you.... I'm so sorry for disappointing you so much." He was crying now, muffling it so he won't wake the people upstairs.

"You've done so much to me dad, I know how hard it is.... to be a father knowing that his daughter was about to do something..... But things just happens and one needed to step in and make it right no matter how....how it ends....dad you needed me so does mom, Charles and Mandy.....let me help you"

My phone was ringing now while a soft rumbling issued outside.

"I'll be back, dad," I told him and hurried to get out of house before dad does something. I hopped inside the car, wiping my tears that poured down when dad had talked me out of this one.

"Why are you crying?" Trench asked as he speeds off to his house.

"Dad just wanted a conversation about this that's all," I sniffed.

"You mean our deal?" he pressed on, sounding amused.

"Yes,"

"Oh...." he mumbled, frowning."Are you sure-"

"I'm sure of it," I snapped at him. I needed the money...pretty....pretty badly.

"Okay then," he sighed, seemed reluctant.

I could see from the still silent dawn the big houses enclosing us. This neighborhood is familiar to me. I already went here with mom, delivering cupcakes. We crossed a small bridge that lead to a pathway surrounded by trees. Then an opening gate greeted the car as Trench speed up. I looked back but the gate was now closing.

When I turned around a familiar house or should I say mansion was in sight. I've been here before. There is this not so old lady who keeps ordering our velvet cupcakes in our shop. Sometimes we go here to deliver it personally to her. She will talk to us about the cupcakes and her magnificent garden.

"I've been here before....how come you didn't tell me Ms. Moore is your mom?" I asked him, totally forgetting the reason why we are here...or the reason I came here.

"That's not her name..." he gritted, somehow annoyed.

"Explain then," I replied as he stopped the car.
