Chapter 72

The anticipated dinner had gone pretty well despite my worries of silent awkwardness. As soon as my future mother in law walked inside the Welsh house, mom had graciously welcomed her and traded kisses in the cheeks. Dad followed her lead and shook hands with Mrs. Graysten. Apologies were thrown in the conversation, mostly from Trench's mom, to which my parents waved off as if to assure her it was now in the past. The most important thing now was the union that was coming sooner. After that everything started to turn into a successful get together. Mom and Mrs. Graysten were particularly discussing another event that is coming days from now. Myles's fourth birthday. The Graysten wanted to celebrate it in the most glamorous way with the royalty  kind of theme. Princess style. Myles's just love everything her grandma, daddy and aunt suggest for her party. My family just stared in shock at the Graysten's expensive planning. Mom tried to relax the frenzy going on around the table courtesy of Trench's family and Mandy's excitement talk but her luck runs out. She stared at me and dad, I just shrug in response. My fiancé already told me his plans weeks ago when I told him his daughter's fourth birthday. It will be the first time the Graysten will celebrate it. And they wanted to go all in. Charles was just busy choking his throat with the way he slurp the food in the vicinity. Where are his manners? Jeez we are surrounded by important people for heaven sake! He should take a leap out of Rupert who was just calm despite his wife's squeals.

"What do my sweetie wanted for a gift?" her grandma Graysten coo.

"A cute little puppy!" she thrilled. Right, how can I forget her constant mumbling when it's time for gift giving for the past years since her grasp of understanding started. She actually wanted a chocolate brown poodle ever since we attended a dog show two years ago. Then it changes to Chow chow, pitbull and Norwak Terrier.

"A puppy?" her grandma and daddy chorus while my parents and Mandy chortled. I bet they remembered the time when she threw a tantrum wanting a puppy in the house. The most amusing part was when they ask what she wanted she bark in this cute puppy bark and cry after that. I still had that video on my old phone which I retrieve from the trash when I was sure Trench was out of sight. I forward every important files saved in there to the new phone he gave me.

"I always wanted one, mommy says she will get me one when she's done saving money," she chanted.

Trench gave this love filled stare that made me want to melt beside him. Does he really have to give me that stare? It's so intense and loving. What did I do to deserve such incredulous man? I'm so thankful though that despite our chaotic past we still end up in each others company. And now Myles's with us. There's nothing I can ask more in this world other than having a complete family.

"Then we will get you one," he assured her.

"No. I was the one who ask the question, therefore I got to give her that," his mom protested. "You need to think something to give her, the puppy gift is taken by her grandma."

He gave his mom a scowl. "But what am I supposed to get her when her room is-"

"Overly filled with toys?" I finish. There. That should give him a lesson not to go all in one day.

He pouted at me. "I'll think something else, don't worry Myles sweetheart,"

"Don't you even dare give her a necklace, I'll kill you," Tara threatened. Hmm...so her gift for her is a necklace.

"Anyone else wanted to reveal their gift for my daughter?" He was getting irritated at the thought of the others doing shotguns with the gift.

"We will make her an artistic red velvet cake so that's off the gift chart," Charles supplied.
