Chapter Nineteen

We are lashing out at each other!

“Summer?” Trench murmured as we occupied ourselves doing our lab report. It’s been two days since my incident of the Amber girl happened. After that encounter Trench and I barely spoke. I mean I was waiting for him to say a word to me but he didn’t so I guess I returned the favor.

“Ya?” I whispered, my eyes on my paper writing the conclusion of our previous lab works.

“Did you mean it?” he inquired.

I looked up to see him looking at me. He was wearing a sober look. “Mean what?” I asked, confused.

 He glared.

Why on earth is he glaring? I thought as I watch him open his mouth to answer. “We are just friends and nothing else?” he clarified.

I sighed. I so didn’t want to be in this conversation when someone was obviously thought she still was in relationship with him. “You had a girlfriend, Trench and she obviously is too territorial when it comes to you… so I go for the safest ground that I wouldn’t regret later”

“She was never been my girlfriend! What the….didn’t you hear me it was only a dare that I let that bitch have some piece of me?” he fumed, clenching his jaw, his eyes glowering.

He was shouting and we are in the library for goodness sake. People were staring in our direction. “Tone down your voice!” I hissed at him.

 “Whatever…” he grumbled.

He didn’t utter a single word after that and left me alone when we were done writing. I pack fast to catch up with him. “Hey!” I called him as he walked to his car.

“What do you want?” he replied, turning around.

“I want you to speak out your mind clearly you have some more to say to me… just spill it out” I asked him.

“You want to know what’s in my mind? Fine! I’ll give some to you…. I thought you were just being nice if I god damn present money in the table and you will freaking talk to me.”

“Oh my gosh Trench! Where did that come from? Yeah I know I called for help once and asking for money, but that was the limitation of it! I’m not even interested if you are fully loaded that you can buy an expensive car or something. I’m not a gold digger and it was unfair that you judge me so quickly!”

“You weren’t speaking to me for two days!”

“I was waiting for you to say something but you didn’t so I didn’t bother to pick up a conversation.” I was breathing heavily now, anger boils in my mind. Why did he jump like that that I was just using him as my own ATM machine I can withdraw where and whenever I wanted? If he was thinking that of me then we better stop talking to each other and hopefully he won’t bother anymore.

He turned around, pumped up his trunk, took his sports bag and jog away to the gym for their basketball practice.

Stupid prejudice! I thought as I start the car. We end up lashing out at each other today. I never expected that!

After dinner, Charles was eyeing me suspiciously when I didn’t join in with the conversation around the table. I was just listening at dad and mom, saying the bakery was doing well now that mom had someone who can help her.

“You and Trench fought? He was not himself when we had our practice and keeps murmuring that you are mean to him” Charles told me as we walked upstairs.

“I’m not mean!” I whined. “He was acting like a jerk and we lash out at each other, that’s all.” Why do things mess up like these and I ended up the one worth blaming for?

“Use your phone then to talk to him” he suggested, chortling as he entered his room. “Remember we owed him” he trailed behind the door.

I stomped inside my bedroom and slammed the door shut. Nice guilt-induce talk Charles! I reach for my phone and dialed his number. It was ringing alright but the guy had no intention picking it up. Ugh! Pick up the phone you moron! I cursed. When it’s been like fifteen minutes I tried to contact him, I stopped it and prepared to go to sleep. I went out of my room first to tell Mandy goodnight before sliding back to my bed. That’s when my phone rang. I glimpse who the caller was and immediately press answer.

“You talking to me now?” I snapped angrily.

“Why did you call?” Trench snapped too. Wow so we are still on our fighting mode.

“In case you didn’t notice I stopped it” I said casually.

“What will you gonna say if I pick it up?” he challenged.

Ugh! You are so irritating now. But I really needed to lessen my pride because the guy still helped me days ago. I was about to say something when he spoke again.

“Don’t tell me you’re in desperation again?” he chuckled darkly.

“Trench I didn’t call you earlier to have another of your generosity. I called to apologize okay. If you don’t want to accept my apologies then I promise to leave you alone from now on” I replied. He didn’t answer for a while that I needed to check if he ended up the call –he didn’t though so I waited for him to say something.

“Fine apology accepted but I will be better if you were in desperation and I ended up coming for you again” he teases.

I sighed that he finally recovered his friendliness despite his teasing. “There’s a lot of option if you wanted to get laid tonight, Trench, call your suitors” I advised, chuckling.

“I already did and she gave me an option to call some random chick” he replied.

“I am not into you Trench”

“Not yet, but way too soon you’ll fall for me” he promised.

I chortled. “Whatever. So white flags had been wave?” I asked him.

“Yap” he chuckled. “See you in school then.”

“See you.” I hang up, sighing at the moody guy.
