Chapter 96

The challenge

"Mommy can I give these flowers first to Snowy before we go to granny's house?" Myles mumbled sadly beside me.

Day ten since that tragedy happened.

It almost ripped my heart just reminiscing that day when we arrived at the hospital looking at my very battered husband and bandage covered Myles with both of their neck supported by a cast. Trench was hugging our daughter like he was afraid someone might try to take her away for good. I went beside them hugging them both  with tears streaming down my face like a waterfall.

Gosh just the memory of it sent me uneasiness.

"Alright, do you want me to come with you sweetie?" I asked.

"It's okay mommy I can manage," she tried to make her smile genuine.

"Okay then,"

"Come Lemon let's visit Snowy," she chatted to the tiny dog who wiggle his tail in response to his master's command. They shuffled hurriedly to where the hero dog is laid. It is at backyard where Snowdust's own statue is. It's just appropriate to give him an acknowledgement for saving Myles. Without the dog intuition to shield my daughter from harm.....gosh just the thought of it made my knees buckled. He protected Myles twice. First he made himself as a cushion to prevent my daughter suffering extensive injuries on the head then took the bullet so that Myles would not be shot.

We owed you so much Snowy and thank you.

"Love," Trench's anxious tone interrupted my emotional breakdown. Little mumbling voices followed his and it was enough to distract me just in time to see my husband kneel down and let go of the twins he was carrying. His face was still covered with cuts and bruises but it were on its way to healing.

"I'm fine...just...." I sighed. He looked at me in understanding. I averted my eyes to the boys who are now crawling on my lap. Their faces grinning at me. This was the reason why I successfully beat off my melancholy and just focus my attention to my happy sons.

"Uhahahahah," Tate chanted offering his spit-drench teethering toy.

Sage was at the moment trying to pull himself to stand using my clothes as his guide. "Ahh!" he snickered seems proud of himself when he leaned to me just to keep himself upright. Little did he know his daddy was supporting his back.

Trench chuckled at his sons' incoherent rumbling. "They had been trying to bite off my chest and pinching my nose," he complained.

I assessed his simple blue shirt looking for any bite marks from the twins. Small teeth impressions were indeed seen in his chest area. "The little biters," I laughed at boys before placing tickling bites on their tummies. Their booming laughter made Trench and I laughing along with them.

"Come on now," hubby chuckled snatching both kids away from me so I could stand up, "where is Myles?"

"She brought flowers for Snowdust," I muttered.

"Again," he breathed, "well let's fetch her there then."

We saw her sitting in front of the tombstone together with Lemon. She was animatedly recounting her day to day activities including the food they would had shared if the dog was still here. Oceania was nearby attending the flowerbeds near Snowdust's statue. She was giving the little girl space to be with herself and her pets. This had been one of Trench's protocol inside the house. One or two helpers will keep an eye on the kids no matter were they go in the compound. I know some men are watching every camera scattered all around the vast compound observing for any danger that might put us in peril.
