“Ano’ng meron? Magluluto ka ba?”kuya asked me while I’m browsing how to make a dumplings.
“I want to cook for Twixx”I said.
“He’s really special for you huh…”I rolled my eyes.
“Stop hating him, kuya”alam ko naman kasi na ayaw niya kay Twixx dahil hanggang ngayon ay naniniwala siya na sasaktan ako ng pamilya niya.
“How can I not hate him?”he said.
“Their family is the mastermind of the different murder case of the top student each year. And I know that you will top the board exam, Ericka”
“I met his family. Mukha naman silang mabait”and I am defending my boyfriend’s family. “They treat me nice. They treat me like a family”
“People can be nice to anyone who anyone. Remember make you friends close and your enemy’s closer?”in the end of the argument, kuya is good at making me speechless.
His arguments are always on point. I know that he’s going to be a good lawyer someday, that he will win every case in court.
“My point here is, don’t trust anyone.”
Silence.
“People can be nice to you especially when they want to hurt you. They will be kind to you so they there will be evidence. So, they can bury the crime”
“They are not proven guilty for the crime, kuya”
“Because they’re paying a huge amount of money to win. You can’t find justice if you’re messing with their family, Eri”Stephen came and said those words.
“Stop making any theory here, Stephen”kuya laughed while grabbing some snacks on the cabinet.
“It’s not a theory, Lukas”Stephen said.
“Wait until I prove everything to you”
“I am waiting…”kuya replied.
“Hindi naman kayo magaaway sa harap ko ng dahil sa pamilya ni Twixx, ‘di ba?”tanong ko sa kanilang dalawa.
“We won’t lose our friendship because of them”Stephen replied. “We won’t fight because of them, right?”
Kuya nodded. “Being a Lawyer is our dream because we want to stand with the truth”
“We will stand with the truth”Stephen patted kuya’s shoulders before grabbing the popcorn.
“Only with the truth.”kuya replied.
“So, gusto niyo ng dumplings?”I asked them to break the dramatic scene they are doing.
Kuya sighed. “We have to practice for the mock competition at our classmate’s house”
“Kailan kayo babalik?”I asked them while they were packing their things.
“Tomorrow”kuya replied.
“Okay. Then I’ll cook our lunch tomorrow”I said. For the first time, ako ang magluluto ng pagkain dito sa condo.
“Eri,”I looked at kuya.
“Hmmm?”
“Wala naman kayong gagawin ni Twixx na masama dito sa condo, ‘di ba?”my face turned into red when kuya asked me.
“Do you think we will have---”hindi na ako pinatapos ni kuya.
“Gross, Eri.”he replied quickly.
