Sanem woke up the next morning and called Metin. She spoke to him about the contract and asking if he would mind looking it over to make sure she was not been tricked or deceived. She wanted to make sure that the deal they were offering was legit and in her best interest. She didn't believe that Engin would do that but she had been fooled before.

"Sanem, do you want me to represent you as your attorney?"

"Yes, if you think I need one."

"It is just, well, even though it has been months since I spoke with Can, it seems he is trying to make amends with both me and Afif. If I am your attorney then anything you say to me is confidential."

"That is good to hear, I am glad he has finally realized the two of you are brothers and care about him. I don't think he will ask but yes, what do I have to do to have you represent me?"

"Just send me a dollar."  They exchanged payment information and she sent him the dollar.

"The contract is good, it does favor you but you must know that they are asking you to write at least one more book if this one is successful. If it is not, then they can void the contract."

"Ok. That sounds fine to me."

"The percentage they are offering you is actually a little better than the standard they offer, which says to me they believe you in. I can't find anything that concerns me so I would say if you want to work with this publishing house then sign the contract. Make sure though that they give you a copy and then email me a copy."

"Evet. Thank you Metin, my lack of experience has been taken advantage of before."

"How are you doing, Sanem?"

"I am well, better everyday." She didn't say she was still in love with Can, or that she missed him still.

"That is good to hear. When do you think you might come home?"

"I don't know. I am still not ready." They talked for a few more minutes then they hung up and she called Engin, telling him that she was ready to sign.

SEVERAL WEEKS LATER

Ayhan came running into the butcher shop

"Osman, Osman!" she yelled "Sanem's book has been published and it will be on sale soon. She sent us a copy to have before it comes out."

She stops as Osman is looking over her shoulder and shaking his head. She turns to see Can sitting at a little table Osman had placed in the shop. She was so use to him being there everyday she had forgotten he would be there when she came running in.

"Does that mean she will be coming home?" Can asked.

"I don't know, she didn't say, just that she would have to do a book tour when the book came out and then she would decide." she answered. Can looked defeated, he stood and walked out the door waving at the two people standing there. They watched as he got in his truck and drove off.

"Ah, I forgot, she sent him a copy also." she said, she picked up her phone and called his number.

"Ayhan?"

"Can, she sent you a copy also, I will leave it at the shop for you to pick up."

"Thanks" he said and hung up. Ayhan looked at her brother "I am worried about him, he just isn't the same, he is like a shell of a person."

Osman agreed. "I think I need to talk with Sanem" he said.
