It was the day before the Residents take their boards. Meredith and the other 5th year residents from Seattle Grace Mercy West arrived at the hotel that they were going to be staying and taking their boards at. "I can't believe it, next month we will be attendings" April said in her high voice. "Yeah if we pass" Alex added. "We will pass" Cristina said surely. "I sure hope so" Jackson applied. "Meredith are you ok" Cristina asked Meredith. Meredith hadn't said a word the whole time and she looked pale and like she was about to pass out. It was only 9 am what could be wrong with her. "Yeah- uhm I'm just feeling a little-" Meredith said as she puked. "Woah" Alex said loudly. "Uhm ok I'm going to get you checked in so you can go up to your room and rest" Cristina said softly as Meredith sat looking dead. Meredith sat there feeling like she was going to puke again while she waited for Cristina to come back with her room key. "Here you go, go get some rest call me if you need me" Cristina said as she handed Meredith her room key. Meredith walked up to her room. When she unlocked the door she ran to the bathroom. She kneeled down on the floor and held her hair back as she puked her guts out. At least that's what it felt like. "Why do I have to end up sick on the day before I take the most important test of my life" she said quietly. She sat on the bathroom floor looking up at the ceiling for a good 5 minutes. That's when her phone started to ring. Without looking who was calling she picked it up. "Hello" she said quietly. "Hey Mer, how are you doing?" That was Derek. I can't tell him I'm sick he will want me to come home but I can't I need to pull through Meredith thought. "Uhm good I was just sleeping" she said. "Oh, well I'll let you go I just wanted to see how you were doing. I love you call me tonight" he said. "Okay I will." She said. "Wait" she said. "Mer what is it". He replied sounding concerned. "Der, I love you and miss you" she said quietly and sounding sad. "I love and miss you too, are you ok" he said "yes but I got to go" she said as she hung up. She laid on the cool bathroom floor as she cried. She felt like crap. Usually Derek would hold her close and tell her she would be ok and hold her hair back when she was throwing up. But he wasn't with her right now. She wanted him but she was going to stay strong. She quickly got up and puked again. I should go lay down on the bed. She thought. That's what she did. Next thing you know it was 6 pm and she was just waking up from her nap.
