Mercy

Derek and Amelia landed in New York and drove to Nancy's house where the family was going to meet up. Derek walked into the house and Nancy and Kathleen and Lizzie gave him a long hug. "Derek I'm so sorry you guys had to come down on these circumstances. Mer was okay with it right?"  Nancy questioned. "Uh yeah. But I need to tell you guys something" He smiled. "What is it?" Everyone but Amelia asked. "Mer is pregnant, about 13 weeks and we are super excited for the baby girl we will be welcoming soon" Derek smiled as he got hugs from his sisters. "That's if she still decides to talk to you" Amelia said from the other side of the room. "Did we miss something" Kathleen asked. "Amelia not now. And no" He replied. Him and Amelia had a 30 second stare down before there was a knock on the door. When Derek answered it, he was surprised to see Addison standing there. "Addi?" He asked. "Nancy called me" She said shyly walking in the house. "Oh" He sighed as she walked past him. After they all ate dinner Addison decided to make small talk. "So, how's everyone's families? Derek any kids?" She questioned. "Yeah, 3 actually 4 in about 6 months" He smiled. There's nothing more he loves than his kids and Meredith but it enraged him that he didn't get to tell his mom about the new coming baby. "Oh that's great I'm happy for you" she smiled. "Thank you." Derek replied also smiling. After about 30 minutes of making small talk his phone started ringing. He read the caller ID and it was Meredith. He decided to let it ring through because he didn't want to talk to her. "Who was that?" Kathleen asked concerned that Derek just let it ring through. "Uhm it was Meredith" He said looking at the ground trying to avoid conversation. "Why would you not answer your wife Derek?" Lizzie asked. "It's just- never mind. Who wants wine I'll go get some" He changed the topic standing up. "Derek" Kathleen said. "We can talk about it over alcohol!" Nancy laughed and she went to grab the alcohol from the kitchen, pouring a glass for everyone. "So Derek?" Kathleen asked again. "Meredith is always thinking the worst is going to happen to us. She always thinks that someone will die so she wouldn't tell anyone about the baby until she got farther along due to our past. I didn't get to tell mom because I was trying to make sure she didn't get mad at me and make sure that I didn't get anyone 'attached'. It's her fault. I yelled at her." Derek replied guzzling down wine. "You yelled at her because she was scared?" Lizzie asked. "Yes" He replied not caring. "Derek Shes your wife, who is pregnant and scared of miss carrying you're really going to blame her for that?" Nancy asked. "Yes. Mom should've gotten to know atleast" He screamed. "Okay Derek how about you just go to sleep it's pretty late anyways" Kathleen said checking the time. Derek set his glass down on the table and quickly walked up the stairs to the room he was staying in. He doesn't know why everyone is taking Merediths side. His mom should've gotten the chance to atleast know there was a baby on the way. He was going home in a couple of days so him and Mer could talk then. Just right now, he didn't care about what was happening in Seattle. It was just him and his sisters right now. Together.
