Unexpected

Home again

It has now been a week since Meredith had her babies. She was still sore but was discharged to go home. She was so excited. "Derek we finally get to take the babies home" Meredith said happily. "I know" Derek replied. Derek helped Meredith to the car. "I'll buckle the babies in" Derek said as he opened doors to the back seat. He strapped the babies in and they were on their way home. In the car Meredith was nervous for what she would see when she gets home. Is the blood still in the shower? Is the note still on the counter? She didn't want to even think about that night when she had to cut her stomach open. "Der. Did you clean up the shower and stuff?" Mer asked hesitantly. "Yes I cleaned the shower and got rid of the bloody blankets and put the note away" Derek sighed. "Thank you. I just don't want to think about that night" Meredith sighed. "I understand and you're welcome" Derek said as they turned into the driveway. Derek got out and got the babies inside then went back out to help Meredith. "We're home" Meredith said as a smile lit up her face. "We are" Derek replied as he pulled her in for a kiss. They both went over and grabbed a baby. Meredith wasn't supposed to hold the baby while walking yet because of her stomach. "Derek let's take the babies to see their nursery" Meredith requested. "Okay. I'll take them you can't yet" Derek said as he grabbed both of the babies. They made their way to the nursery and walked around the room with them. "This is your room guys" Meredith said in a baby voice. Derek looked at Meredith with his sparkly eyes. He couldn't believe that he had a family with someone who didn't even like relationships. "What are you staring at" Meredith giggled. "You" Derek replied as he set the babies in their cribs. The babies fell asleep after 10 minutes and Meredith and Derek left the room. "I'm gonna lay down" Mer sighed as she walked in the bedroom and plopped down on the bed. Derek walked in after her and did that same. Mer closed her eyes but could feel Derek looking at her. She opened her eyes and sure enough he was looking right at her. "Why are you staring at me?" Meredith asked. "Mer. I wanted to tell you that I love you and everything about you. I love our family and I'm so thankful you decided to have a family with me. I really love our twins and Zola. So thank you, for letting me love you and our family" Derek said as Meredith put her head on his chest. "Derek. I never wanted to be a mother or get married or have a family. I never thought I was going to be good at being a mother. You changed everything. You cared for me and loved me when no one else would. And when I met our beautiful twins I saw you in them and some of me. They changed my world. Zola showed me I could be a mother and the twins showed me that I could be an extraordinary mother. I love you Derek shepherd" Meredith said as tears formed in her eyes. Derek kissed Mers forehead as she kept her head on his chest. He had a perfect life. Nothing had to be different. Meredith fell asleep on Dereks chest listening to his heartbeat. Gosh she loves Derek Christopher Shepherd so much more than words could describe and she really loves all 3 of her kids.
