Unexpected

She risked it all

Derek went up to daycare and grabbed Zola and told her everything that happened. She was so excited to meet her siblings. Derek took Zola to Merediths room and went to grab the twins. When he got to the NICU he grabbed 2 blankets and put his babies in them as he went to Merediths room. Meredith was talking to Zola when he walked in. "Meredith. Meet our baby girl and boy" Derek said as he walked in. "Bring them here please" Meredith said. He placed both babies in Merediths arms. "Oh Derek they are amazing" Meredith said as tears came to her eyes. "Zola do you want to see" Mer asked. "Yes please" she said. Zola got up on the bed and sat next to Meredith. "They are so cute" Zola said. "They are" Derek said as he stroked Merediths head. "Ok Zozo we need to get you back to daycare you can see your siblings later" Derek said as he took Zola out of the room. "Love you zozo" Mer said. After Derek took Zola up to daycare he went back down to Mers room. "Derek, look at them they are amazing" Meredith said in awe. "They are" Derek said as he crawled in bed next to her. "We need to name him. I'll name the girl you name the boy" Meredith said. "Okay I think Bailey would be a good name." Derek suggested. "I love that name and I think Ellis would be a great name" Meredith said. "Ellis and Bailey it is" Derek said sounding happy. "Derek when do I get to go home" Meredith asked. "Mer, you cut yourself open. You will be here for at least a week" Derek sighed. "Ok whatever" Meredith said with tears in her eye. "Derek, take the babies please" Meredith said as she winced in pain. Derek grabbed the babies and placed them down. "What hurts Mer?" He asked. "Nope nothing hurts" Meredith sighed. "Mer" Derek said. "It all hurts everything" Meredith said. "Well it will hurt I will page Bailey for meds ok" he rubbed her cheek. "Ok" she replied. Derek paged Bailey and she came into the room. "What's up?" She asked. "Pain meds" Mer winced. "Ok here you go" Bailey said as she inserted pain meds in her IV. "Where's the babies I was the second person other than their mother to hold them" Bailey said sounding excited. "Bailey meet Ellis Grey-Shepherd and Bailey Grey-Shepherd" Derek said as he handed her the babies. "Bailey?" She asked surprised. "Yes we named him after you" Meredith said. "Oh my gosh!" Bailey said happily. "I have a patient. I will be back to see these babies later." Bailey sighed as she left the room. "Derek hand me Ellis let Bailey sleep" Meredith said quietly. Derek handed Ellis to Mer. "Derek we make perfect babies" Meredith said grinning. "We do" he replied. "Derek you didn't call your family" Meredith said. "Oh I forgot let me call them" Derek said as he pulled out his phone. He called his mom. "Hey mom" he said. "Derek what's happening is it the babies?" He asked. "Actually yes. Meredith went in to labor 2 nights ago when I wasn't home. She called me but it went to voicemail then her phone died. When she was checking how dilated she was she saw one of our babies legs. She didn't know what to do she was panicking so she wrote a goodbye note to me just incase she died" Derek sighed. "Derek is she ok are the babies ok?" Carolyn asked. "Yes. Meredith cut her stomach over and did a c-section oh herself with no drugs. When we found her it was about 15 minutes after she did it and she was unconscious. The babies were both crying and fine but Mer wasn't she had emergency surgery but now she's ok and awake and our beautiful twins are perfect so you should come see them." Derek added. "Me and your sisters will be on our way we should arrive tomorrow" Carolyn said. "Ok love you mom bye" Derek said as he hung up. "My mom and sisters are going to get on a flight. They are excited to see the twins and make sure your ok" Derek said. "Sounds good" Mer said.
