~Barak's POV~
Both Rebekah and I stopped few feet away from the room. We knew it was not the privacy we sought and at the same time, I knew my mate did not wish to go far away from the girl sleeping inside, at least until she awoke.
I moved, my hands finding Rebekah's arms, I held her firmly yet not tight so that she had no way to move away.
So when Rebekah stayed put I let a small smile slip through knowing she was not averse to me as I originally thought
"Why are you avoiding it?" I questioned hurt marring my voice.
This had not been the reaction I'd been expecting when I finally found my mate.
Almost all the time a guardian warrior's mate was of their own kind but in rare cases such as Evangelina, Alexandros, and I, mates were found in the mortal worlds. They were most of the time witches, vampires, werewolves, or other supernatural creatures found in the parallel universes.
And now I'd found mine. Rebekah Mikaelson, an Original Vampire from another world. I knew she was not of this world, and I was the Guardian Warrior responsible for the world they were currently standing in.
And when I'd laid my eyes on her golden visage at the dingy storeroom of the Volturi castle trying to calm down Evangelina I'd been ready to let it all go, just as long as she would come to me. But contrary to my expectations she had not been exactly welcoming.
"I do not know if another mate is what I want right now," Rebekah mumbled out making me freeze.
"Another mate?" I chocked out, slightly shocked. Was it the reason she was so reluctant? That her mate would be cross in case he'd find about me.
But soon my thoughts paused.
No, it could not be the reason, for she'd seen the circumstances around Evangelina, and the girl had four mates. Rebekah from my observations did not seem opposed to such a thing either, so what was it?
Unable to keep my thoughts straight I asked her directly.
"Is that what is bothering you? That you have another mate?" But for some reason, my question seemed to infuriate her for she burst out with an answer which left me fuming with rage.
"Because the said mate did not want me!!" And now there were tears on her sweet face.
"What?" I questioned incredulously swallowing down a shocked laugh. How could one reject or not want their own mate? It went against their own being.
And so when Rebekah started explaining I understood everything very clearly. It was so clear that I was absolutely sure that I would not be budging anywhere without my fiery mate with me.

~Damon's POV~
It had been three hours, three hours since we came to the hotel, and even more since she lost her consciousness.
According to Barak, it was nothing to worry about but I could not just simply wait.
And it was not only me, for I was pretty sure Klaus would soon start ripping into the first person upon him just to fight the tension riding him.
That was when a soft gasp sounded from the bed prompting all four of us to flash to the bed.
Her green eyes looked around confused a small frown marring her forehead as she wondered what happened.
But it was Elijah who broke the silence when her eyes finally cleared.
"You need to stop doing this to us sweet Eva. It is only so many times we could take, watching our mate lapse into a state of unconsciousness is not pleasant." His soft admonishment did not hold any heat, only the panic and pain we all endured for the past three hours.
