~Eva's POV~

Stefan and Damon had called earlier both of them inquiring about me being their date. But then Niklaus and Elijah who had been in the background had vehemently objecting insisting they being the ones to escort me, which brought me to the current situation of going alone without anyone escorting me.

Problem easily solved.

And considering that I had to get ready to counter Esther's spell I needed to get home, so much to Rebekah, Caroline, and even my disappointment I opted to get ready at home instead of with the two of them. As for the dress, that I already selected before departing from the Mikaelson Mansion.

But what troubled me was that, if Esther was going to continue her plans as before then how is she going to take the doppelganger blood?

After I helped Elena save herself and her family it was hard to conceive the thought of wanting my mates dead. She simply did not have the motivation anymore, considering even her blood is required to be given for only a limited time.

Sighing I looked in the mirror appraising her dressed self once more.

The dress she wore was sparkling purple in color, short-sleeved resting on my shoulder with a heart-shaped neckline showing just a hint of my breasts and a black belt resting on the middle accenting my tiny waist paving the way to the abundant fabric of the large skirt.

As for the hair I did it in a slightly messy updo, several curls framing my face, sparkling silver earrings accenting my ears.

Complete with the silver bracelet Elijah and Niklaus presented earlier that day and a pair of silver heels, I grabbed my clutch purse before striding out of the house, a car waiting for me downstairs.

If Elena was somehow connected to the spell I too would need doppelganger blood and the blood of the Mikaelson siblings to counter the spell Esther is about to cast. That is considering the woman would not throw further curveballs into her scheming spells.

Tonight's ball was going to be a stressful one.

~Stefan's POV~

Entering the Mikaelson house with my brother and Edward in tow the first thing I did was, search for Eva but when I could not find a hint of her I came to the conclusion that she had not arrived yet.

"Guess she is looking for a fashionably late entrance." Damon quipped from beside me having reached the same conclusion as I.

"Let's get this over with." I muttered before continuing, "And where are the other two, it was because of their annoying meddling that Eva refused to come with us." I was still not over that.

With all the Mikaeslon drama going on both Damon and I had minimum contact with Eva throughout the day and annoyance was putting it lightly.

"You two need to calm down with that. You know that Eva would not want you to pick a fight with Elijah and Klaus. She loves you all the same." Edward cut in probably getting the unsettled air surrounding the two of us.

"We know," Damon murmured shortly before the three of us made a beeline for the drinks which just happened to be where Klaus and Elijah were milling about.

"Ahh, gentlemen you have finally graced us with your presence. Edward, how is our world treating you?" Klaus was the one to speak and he was apparently not passing the opportunity to get a dig out of Edward's rather uncomfortable stay here.

The man had been having a little trouble adjusting to the diet, the bunnies and the deers not doing the work a mountain lion does for him. And blood bags were out of the question considering what it does to his eyes, turning them a shade of red.
