~Eva's POV~

After we successfully annoyed Finn and left the mess name 'Sage' for him to deal with I went back home for once alone without any of my mates.

According to my earlier words, "It is necessary to have personal space in a relationship once in a while."

Though nobody really bought it including me, considering our circumstances I just wanted to have a day for myself to think of the stuff I have pushed away.

My visit back home was also peculiar, Alexandros acting as if he was on pins and needles, barely hiding that something was bothering him. But when asked the topic was skillfully detoured that I did not get to make out the heads or tails of the matter.

But I knew he would not ever stand for me being in any disadvantageous or dangerous situation so I will wait and see what is the real matter.

Another thing I was concerned about was what really happened to Bazil. The last thing I saw before life left me was him giving into insanity and from what I've so far he seemed to have passed away not long after.

But something seemed not right, I could not pinpoint it, for the tightness in my chest when thinking of him prompts me to stop thinking further.

I may no longer love him as I used to, but he was still my first mate, the one who was created alongside me. After getting all my memories back it is weird to think he is no more in this world.

Conflicting thoughts swirled my thoughts as I approached my house only to stop short at the figure sitting on the porch.

Familiar curly hair and heart-shaped face, no mistaking it, Katherine Pierce had finally thought to show her face.

"Katherine?"

"Eva." She spoke in return standing up upon seeing me.

Well, this was a surprise.

~Katherine's POV~

"What are you doing here Katherine?" I thought of the same thing myself since arriving here and now facing Eva I did not know how to answer.

"I do not know really. Just this feeling, as if something important to me was here." I muttered with a grimace feeling stupid just for uttering such a sentence.

But Eva did not mock for she looked thoughtful at the discovery as she knew something I did not.

Oh, well the woman always knew something the other did not. This wouldn't be the last time.

"How was your search for your daughter?" She asked instead of continuing the earlier line of conversation.

And the mention of Nadia, complex feelings rose within me.

"I've met her. She was searching for me." I spoke while Eva nodded expecting it.

"Then why are you here?"

"I did not work. Tell me honestly, do you think I'm suitable for motherhood? Even to a grown-up?" I asked sarcasm dripping as I remembered what happed with Nadia.

She had been happy to see me. Surprised that I'd sought her out. But I did not feel the relief I was expecting to feel. Happy, yes. Finding your long-lost daughter I was bound to be happy but I could not live up to Nadia's expectations.

She wanted to travel the world with me, for me to be a mother to her.

"You ran." It was a statement and I did not deny it.
