~Klaus's POV~
As soon as I entered the room Eva was lying in I felt as if my heart was being stiffened. According to what Alexandros informed them Eva should be simply remembering the past, but why did she look like she was being suffocated.
For tears ran down the side of her face, as her closed eyelids trembling, forehead knitted together, body shivering and coated in sweat as if she was physically feeling the torment and devastation she had to go through in the past.
I felt the other three coming to stand behind me silently, their silence and somberness adding to the suffocating feeling the room was giving.
Eva, his sweet love was in pain.
"Do you ever think what it would be like to see your mate getting killed right before your eyes?" Damon then suddenly asked making me snap my head towards him ready to give the vampire a peace of my mind. But the raven-haired man had his eyes trained on the woman sleeping on the bed.
The one who had all our hearts in her hands.
But still, I could not help but ponder on his question, and soon as my thoughts rushed in that direction my blood ran cold. Just imagining something like that was abhorrent.
Eva, whom I loved with every thousand-year bone of mine, the one who brought my family together fixing it to almost resemble a passable one. The one who had not for a moment thought of manipulating us. The one who after centuries of betrayals and loneliness shed light to my undead, dark heart, if she were to ever be taken right in front of my eyes...
"The thousand years of abominable life I spent would simply seem like a juvenile joke," I said softly, for the outcome was simply unimaginable and impossible to fathom or accept.
The pain would simply push me into driving the white oak finally into my heart, ending my life altogether. Or like what happened to Basil, I would simply go mad and slaughter the beings on earth until someone powerful enough to stop me comes along.
What a tragic sight it would be... I could not help but muse all the while hoping for the exact opposite.
An eternal life with my mate, my family, and the rest of her bloody harem. The last purely for her sake, save for Elijah who had the privilege of being my brother.
This was when I heard Alexandros speaking once again, having walked up to us in between our contemplations.
"Evangelina is not only reliving her past life, but also the past of this life. Originally she was supposed to live a carefree one until she would come into her powers regaining her memories. But due to the mishap, she was born an orphan, leading her to get caught in the criminal world. She was originally a ruthless creature by nature, only her innate goodness keeping her from giving in to the madness. But her early years in this life were not kind, prompting her to indulge in those instincts to survive.
I believe she had already informed you of her past, at least a small potion." At that, the four of us nodded listening to him attentively knowing he was about to reveal the rest of Eva's history.
All this time it was her who had known them inside out, now it was their time. To know and understand her so they could accept every part of her. Ones she had shown and kept a secret.
"For the few years she was under that human, she did everything she was asked to finally one day when she was ordered to kill someone. The killing part was nothing out of ordinary, it was something normal for her at the time, but it was the someone that was the problem. It was another girl, brought later than her to the base. Somehow the two found solace in each other in that cruel environment.
