~Alexandros's POV~
Standing atop the last remaining tower of the old castle in the Soul Realm I watched my brethren move about their lives completely unaware of the conspiracies and dangers that are hidden from them.
If this has been a ten thousand years ago before the war of destruction happened, then the light warriors who are at the end of their life now would not have existed, they would have been eternally young-looking not a day aged from their mid-twenties.
Without forming one's soul beast, a light warrior's existence is meaningless, and after 'her' destruction the number who failed to form their soul beasts has increased, bringing with them the last age of my kind. If not for our high fertility rate I'm afraid we would've already met our end.
"It seems you've always been a right brother. I did not listen now Samuel has taken things to his hands." A soft sigh escaped me as I gazed towards the Palace miles away. From the beginning, I had been wrong and failed to see the sorrow, worry, and longing in my brother's heart, Keeping 'her' away was not right, not right at all.
And now seeing her integrating into the new world so easily had made me see the wrong in my way. But what still worried me is the day she would find her soul beast.
I just hope she finds them all by then.
~Eva's POV~
"Eva come out! Stop being stubborn, tell us what's wrong!" Damon's concerned and loud voice behind the closed front door reached me, loud bangs landed on the door powerful enough to echo throughout my house.
But I did not move an inch from the place I was standing in. It was not that I was unwilling to see them but I was simply scared, scared that they will not see me in the same way after seeing me in that state yesterday, covered in blood like a monster so unlike me they had seen all this time.
At first, it was Stefan who came but after having zero results Damon joined him, attempting to make me come out.
"I don't want to talk! Go away will you... please?"
My voice slightly cracked at the end and the sounds from outside ceased, silence descending.
"Eva, it's okay if don't want to talk but just let us see you okay? We just want to make sure you are alright." This time it was Stefan and unlike the other times, his voice held so much care and worry that it made me snap out of my cowardly and selfish bubble.
Hesitantly I walked forward before slowly opening the door ad suddenly I was crushed in a very tight and warm embrace making my body relax giving into the hug.
~Stefan's POV~
Standing a few steps back I watched my brother hug her as if his life depended on it, in a way it was.
To a vampire, especially a male vampire their mate was their life.
And I could only hold myself back as Damon enjoyed a mate's embrace.
"Thank god! You are okay right?" Pure relief gushed out of Damon's voice as he looked at Eva's face intently.
She smiled at him softly before nodding and that nod made my body relax. She was fine, I did not have to worry.
Yesterday when I, Damon, and Alaric arrived at the tomb vampire's house we were planning to kill whoever was inside rescue Eva, but what greeted us shocked us to the core.
The usually indifferent yet sweet person was standing in front of us with a cold look in her eyes covered in vampire blood looking far from the person we knew. But despite the shock, the first emotion with invaded me was worry and fear.
