The streets of New Orleans were as lively as always. The soft dribble of light rain doing nothing for the humans who ran wild, laughing and embracing the beauty around them.
Food, music, art surrounded them and the heavy vibe of the supernatural unmistakable as four creatures stalked down the streets, all of them alone.
Klaus smiled having come back to his favorite place on earth as he casually walked purely enjoying the sights before stopping as he witnessed an artist putting his emotions into his art as he stroked it with angry brush strokes.
Just moments ago he'd demanded the witch who had been acting a street fortune teller to tell what nonsense had been going on here, only to hear what his darling protégé had done to the town.
While it was a good thing that vampires lived rather well, antagonizing witches was the last thing one should do.
But soon his attention was snagged by the artist in front of him, making him getting absorbed in the painting he was doing.
The man was angry and resentful, every brushstroke of his was akin to a strike against the world. It was a face he was painting, yellows, reds, and black adorning it yet the fieriness of it was very obvious, anger and shadows glaring back at him.
Once upon a time he too would have resonated with the artist, but they still had one thing in common. Klaus knew he tended to let his demons control him often, and while he was not as angry as he was before, he still knew how much terror he could cause even for the most pathetic provocation.
And someone completely different from him was his mate, Eva.
She too had terrifying darkness within her. Something manifested from a very different situation than his. He was jaded due to his father while she was due to the world itself. Yet she rarely resorted to violence, instead, everything about her was cold calculation. Diplomacy and strategies for everything she did, which made her even more dangerous considering how nasty she could be when her bottom line is crossed.
It is said that light is drawn to the darkness, and vice-versa but what would you do when you find someone with both of them in equal balance.
You surrender completely without any complaint, for their allure was that potent.
Thinking this Klaus let out a smile, amused and longingly.
But till she returned, there was a kingdom to keep him busy.

Stefan sped across the building roofs occasionally stopping as he witnessed the colorful lifestyle the vampires in the city spent.
There was blood everywhere when it came to them. Humans, some compelled, some willingly falling prey as his kind guzzled down blood reveling in the moment.
All of this because of Marcel, having witnessed how he ruled the city earlier when he punished the witch named Jane-Anne Deveraux after Klaus inquired of the woman around the city.
The body still laid in the same place where his head was removed the other witches were not even allowed to come near the area.
It was foreign for Stefan to be in such a place, a place that showcased the predators within it so blatantly. He had once when he was on his ripper binges but most of those days were spent on bathing in blood and innocent victims that taking a moment to carefully appreciate the city he was in never really appealed to him.
The next set of meals always on his mind.
But he'd learned to have control of his blood lust, thanks to his lovely mate.
