Adrian and I have been married for 5 years now. Shortly after our wedding and honeymoon, he had begun working on ways to help me get pregnant, so we can have our own little family. The one I was carrying before, we unfortunately ended up losing.

Well, now we have 4 wonderful children. 3 boys and a beautiful little girl who managed to have daddy wrapped around her little fingers. While yes, it can be rather adorable. But when she gets into trouble she always runs to her father, and he always gives in to her sneaky cuteness and never punishes her when she should be.

So in a way he has never changed in my whole life of knowing him. He did the same thing with me when I was growing up, but now I know what I have always put my parents through.

I was in the kitchen cleaning and washing dishes. Well, trying to considering Clarisse kept getting into things she wasn’t supposed to, and making an even bigger mess for me to clean.

“Clarisse! Why can’t you just listen for once, stop getting into everything and leave things alone!?” I have been telling her nonstop for the last 15 minutes to leave everything alone, but she has been completely ignoring me and acting like I’m not even here. The boys have been running amok, and I have no idea where Adrian even is.

As I turned my back to grab the last of the dirty pans, I hear Clarisse got into the cupboards with all the pots and pans, and heard everything crashing onto the floor. I quickly turn around, and noticed the kitchen had been destroyed, and every single pot and pan we own were all spread across the floor.

“Alright, Clarisse, I have had it with you not listening to me, ever! Go to your room, now!” I yell out. “No!”

“Yes! I am your mother, and you need to start listening to me! Now go to your room and don’t come out until I say you can!” She storms out of the kitchen and I take another look at the mess she had created.

Forcing myself to hold it all together, I finish with the dishes before I even start on putting everything away. Soon though, I feel a pair of arms wrapping around me. Something I haven’t felt in a very long time.

“I know you don’t get told this often, and I have been failing at this for some time now.” I hear Adrian speaking softly into my ear. “You do a wonderful job with everything, Amora. You are a strong and loving mother, and you hold everything together so well, even with everything you go through on the daily. I love you so much, baby.” He then places a kiss to my temple, and I stop what I was doing.

I started to tremble, as I continue to fight the tears from escaping. “Amora, why don’t you let me finish cleaning, and you go take a much-needed break, okay? Go relax for a bit, and I’ll take care of everything.”

The tears began to fall anyway, and he noticed immediately as some had landed on his hand. “Amora, what’s wrong?” He asks as he turns me to face him, and I immediately started crying into his chest. I couldn’t take it anymore.

He holds me in his arms as I let it all out. “I don’t know how much I can take! Clarisse never listens to me, and every time she gets into trouble, she goes running to you making everything I say to her not matter! I’m constantly cleaning after the kids, and I never know where you are half the time!” He then tightens his hold on me, making this worse on me.

“Adrian, you haven’t held me in your arms like this in so long, I’ve been beginning to think you no longer loved me. We barely kiss anymore, have time with each other or even made love in god knows how long! I’ve been feeling so unappreciated by everyone here! I just....”
