Leaving the manor once again, this time we had used his carriage to ride into the city. I was sitting in coach with him, of course, keeping each other the company.
“I really do appreciate you doing this for me, Adrian.” I say as I lean my head against his shoulder. “It’s my pleasure, love. I only ever want to see you happy. Besides, I am really looking forward to seeing your reaction to the surprise.”
“Can’t you at least give me a hint?!” I tease. “No, love. You have to wait and see. But I guarantee you will absolutely love it.” He smiles down at me. “You’re quite confident in yourself, aren’t you?” I giggle. “Very.”
“And how is that?”
“You told me. But that’s all I can say about it. Just saying that was probably too much.” He laughs. I try thinking long and hard what that might have been, but nothing was coming to mind.
We soon came to a stop, and I was brought back to reality. I look at where we were at, and saw we were at one of the candy shops. “Interesting that we came here. I’ve never been here before.” He grins at me before hopping off the carriage. He walks around and helps me down as well.
“Thank you.” I smile, and he leans down for a kiss. “Of course, love.” But instead of heading inside, he climbs into the carriage. “Umm, Adrian? What are you doing?”
“Just a second, Dearie.” I hear him speak out. Confused, I walk over to the door, but he then hops out wearing his usual clothing. The cloak, trench coat and the scarf thing. He also had on his hat and covered his eyes. “I am so confused. I thought we agreed-”
“It’s only for this place. You’ll understand why in a minute, my dear.” He grins widely. I was beyond confused. As he notices my confusion, he guides me over to the windows of the shop. “Look inside, Hun.”
I do just so, and glance at everything, trying to make sense of what he is on about. I then look behind the counters at the employees, and noticed one of them looked familiar, but I couldn’t remember who she was. “I still don’t understand-”
“You don’t recognize one of the employees?”
“I do, but I don’t remember where I’ve seen her before. What is this about?”
“Take a closer look at her.” He smiles. I let out a sigh before taking a closer look at her. It then clicked, and my eyes widen, and I gasp. “Is that really who I think it is?!”
“Indeed, it is.”
“Adrian, you’re the best!!!” I exclaim as I attack him with the biggest hug I could possibly give. I then rush over to the carriage and take off my wig, throwing it inside. I’m going to have some fun with this!
Closing the door, I put my hood back on, and I grab his hand and run inside as quickly as possible and run over to the counter to her.
“Hello, how can I help you?” The woman asks as she looks at me weirdly.
“Hi! I was wondering if you carried any candy in the shape of bones?”
“Uh, no we don’t.” She answers as she raises an eyebrow. “Okay, how about fish?”
