I suddenly have this uneasy feeling deep in the pit of my stomach, and it was making me very nauseous. I didn’t like this at all.
“Alright, Amora. We’ve made our decision.” Eleanora begins. I noticed Rowland looking behind them, and Undertaker was acting a little strange too. I look up at her, anxiously awaiting the answer.
“Rowland and I are very sorry, but we decided it’s time to let you go-”
“What?! You can’t be serious?” I couldn’t hold back the tears anymore, and I noticed Luna look over at me immediately. She seemed just as shocked as I was. I then look over at Undertaker, and he still wasn’t showing any emotion. He then puts a hand over my shoulder.
“I’m sorry, Amora. But this is for the best. Learning about the news, and putting our shop in danger... We just can’t have you with us anymore. We loved having you with us, you are very good at your job-”
“And we were looking forward to handing you over the shop, but we just can’t put our other employees at risk.” Rowland interrupts. “We’re terribly sorry.” They both look back over at Undertaker before heading over to the counter. I was now crying even more. I just lost one of the best things to ever happen to me, all because I failed to mention it back up to Ciel about not going through with this. Undertaker stands behind me and leans down to my ear.
“Everything will be alright, dearie. Expect some good news when we leave, okay?” He whispers as he wipes away the tears. “I guarantee it’ll make you happy, love.” I look up at him confused. “How so? I just lost my job!”
“Just trust me on this. I will be right back, I’m going to use the restroom.” He walks away and I notice Eleanora and Rowland taking a seat at the counter. They seemed to look over at me before receiving their plates.
“I’m so sorry, Amora. I never expected this to happen-”
“Can we just not talk about this?” I really didn’t want to have a public meltdown. “Yes, of course....” She trails off as she seems to be contemplating something. “You should talk to him.” I look back up at her. I then realized what she meant. “Luna-”
“Just do it okay? I know for a fact he loves you.” She half smiles. “If he liked me in that way, he would have said something already. He knows I’m attracted to him. He’s brought it up again about how I’ve acted last night, he would have said something if he truly did. I've already been humiliated about what just happened, I’m not going to embarrass myself even more.”
“Amora-” Before she can say anything else, Undertaker walked back to our table. He still seemed to be acting a little weird. “Alright, Amora. Shall we get going?” He asks. “Yes, please. I’ll see you around, Luna. Thanks for being a good friend, I’ll give you a call sometime.”
“Yes, of course.” Just then Undertaker leaned over to tell her something before we left. After he was finished, he put his hand behind my back and guided me outside.
As soon as I made it out the door, I couldn’t take it anymore, and I burst out crying. He then pulled me in a tight hug. “Love, it will be okay. Cheer up, because I have something to tell you.” I buried my face into his chest as I couldn’t stop from crying. He slightly pulled away and made me look up at him. He wiped away the tears and smiled down at me.
“I have good news, love. But with good news I also have bad news.” I looked at him confused. “What can be worse than losing my dream job?!”
“Shh, let me explain, okay? You still have your job!” I was even more confused. “Don’t play with me-”
“I’m not! The good news is you still have your job! You will have the next 2 weeks off. The bad news is, we need to get out of here as your attackers are here.”
“What?!” I started to panic. He looks inside quick before taking my hand and pulling us away. I heard the door opening and I turn around to look. What were they doing here?! When did they arrive?! They then look over at us. “Amora, let’s hurry.” We pick up the pace and turn a corner.
“We need to hurry over to your house and get back to the shop. Hopefully they won’t follow us. But seeing as they came right out after we did, it’s looking like they will.” We turn another corner and rush over to my house. It wasn’t too far from here.
Upon entering my house, I go up to my room quick as he waits for me down the stairs. I grab my handbag and grab a few things while I’m here. Packing my nightgowns, a few extra clothes, toiletries and of course my camera, I grab my sword and make my way back down.
“Got everything you need?” He asks. “Yes, we can go.”
“Let’s go out the back door. They followed us and are expecting us to go back out the front.” He takes my hand and we go through the back. Locking the door, we quickly make our way back to the shop.
When we arrived back to his shop and were now inside, I turn around to face him. “Would you please explain to me what’s going on?! Why would they say that to me if I still have my job-” I stop what I was saying as he had walked up to me, inches away as he takes hold of my hands. My face becomes hot once again as he had moved his hair away.
“Love, I will explain everything. Before we were able to finish talking, we seen someone walking into the diner. I knew right away who they were and I had told your bosses about it. They told me they still want you at the bakery. As soon as we saw them sit on the opposite side from you, they quickly made the decision to make it seem like you were being fired. But love, you’re really not. I’m sorry for having your heart broken, but it was a last minute decision to keep them away from the shop. I promise you I would never want to break your heart like that again.” He says as he pulls me into a hug.
“I was wondering why you and Rowland were acting a little strange earlier, but I was too nervous to pay any attention to anything else.”
“Now you know. I’m so glad I came along. I hate to say this, but you probably wouldn’t be here right now if I hadn’t.” He says as he pulls away slightly to look at me again. “I don’t want to ever lose you again.”
