Chapter 8: Fitting

Ciel and Sebastian lead Nina and I to my old bedroom as we explained what had happened to me and my need for new clothes. Upon entering the room, old memories came flooding through my mind. Everything was exactly the same as before. I even found my old photo book. 

“A young lady who was captured and hidden in the dark shadows for years and was thought to be dead by everyone in society, has returned as a young woman!” Nina yells out, startling me from my thoughts. “My heart, it throbs with both excitement and anticipation! My fountain of imagination is overflowing!!” She exclaims loudly. Her personality has never changed a bit, I see. 

“Yes, I will tailor the best dresses possible, inspired by the very latest trends!” She then turns to face us with the biggest smile. “Aside from some dresses, she’ll also need a few sets of other clothing! Undergarments are also essential to a woman’s closet! I’ll make her a chemise and corsets! And we can’t forget the stockings! Oh, and a hat would be lovely to top it off!”

“But wait! I don’t have the money to buy tailor-made clothes!” I exclaim. “Oh, it’s fine! I’m sure your brother won’t mind paying for 10 or 20 outfits!” 

“I’m sure she won’t have any trouble paying him back when she can.” Says Sebastian. “Cheapskate!” Nina yells as she angrily looks at him. “Now hold on a minute! I don’t mind paying for at least 7 outfits. She is in need of them, and she is my sister. (Y/N), don’t worry about paying me back. Consider this as a welcome back gift.” Ciel chimes in. 

“Really?! Thank you so much, Ciel!” I exclaim, happily. “Alright, now leave us. It’s ladies only from this point on.” Says Nina, as she pushes Sebastian out of the room. I quietly laugh to myself as I watch them, she clearly doesn’t like Sebastian. “Gentlemen will have to excuse themselves.” As soon as Ciel exits the room, she closes the door before turning to me again. 

“Now then, shall we begin?” I nervously stand there, as I am definitely not looking forward to this. Most of all, I was definitely NOT thrilled about wearing any corsets!

Once I was out of the clothes I was wearing, she began taking my measurements before we got started with anything else. 

“Alright now, first we’ll try on the chemise and stockings, then the corset!” I mentally groan to myself as she puts the chemise on me, and I put the stockings on myself. The stockings were black and the chemise was just plain white. She then stands behind me as she put the corset on me. As soon as she began tightening the laces together and tying them, I began screaming in pain. It felt like my ribs were being crushed and my internal organs were being smashed tightly together. 

“It’s best if you lean over and hold on to the bed post!” I tried doing as instructed, but it wasn’t making any difference. “There’s no real need to tighten it too much, but…”

“Gah!!” I yell out again. “A tight, slim waist really brings out the beauty in any dress! Oh, and Hopkins Tailoring creates special corsets padded with bulletproof material!” 

“Bulletproof material? I guess that would have been handy 6 years ago!” I only half joke about that. “Absolutely! When I heard about you, I had decided to add this into our corsets.” After what felt like an hour of being tortured, she finally finished. 

“After the corset comes the petticoat!” I put it on as she grabs a dress she had made rather quickly after my measurements. “Alright, now that the under layer is done, we can put on the dress!” 

Once the dress was on, along with the hat, I went to look at myself in the mirror. The dress was perfect and absolutely beautiful! It was a two piece dress and skirt set with shirring bustles in front, an open back with wide frills. Cotton lace and trimmings back and cute bow knots on the front chest. The skirt has black frills and the hat was black with flower decorations around it, along with a long, brown ribbon tied around it.
