Numb

I sprinted home as fast as I could, running in and slamming the door behind me. I collapsed on the floor, struggling to catch my breathe. I haven't ran like that in ages "you ok?" Owen knelt in front of me "Him" "I swear to god if hes out, I'm going to end up doing life in prison" Owen clenched his fists. "No" I couldnt find words "his" "his mother" Owen looked confused. "His mother lives in this part of town, she must of moved down here" I finally caught my breathe.

"That's it tomorrow we are taking a restraining order against the whole family, I'm not living in a bubble because of him" Owen started to pace up and down the hall. "Its okay, were stronger than them" how is it that I'm now calming Owen down? "Daddy what's wrong?" Ollie dragged his blanket along the floor "nothing son, come on well get you to bed" Ollie did his usual grunt but headed towards the stairs. "Dinners on the side, get a shower and then well watch some movies" I nodded dragging myself to the downstairs bathroom.

The shower seemed to be my favourite place at the moment. Time doesn't exist when I'm in it. I washed then just sat in the tub as the shower poured down on me. "Babe, I brought you your comfy pyjamas" as Owen welcomed himself in to the bathroom as per usual. "Its okay! Well get through it" I nodded. "Have you washed your hair?" I shook my head. Owen rolled up his sleeves and started washing my hair, normally I would enjoy it but I felt numb. I stayed curled up hugging my knees even tighter.

Eventually when I got out and sorted, Owen forced me to stay on the couch as he made me a cup of tea and put The greatest showman on. I snuggled up to Owen, holding him tighter than I ever had. Of course i let go when i was throwing my arms about and having a good sing song.

I woke up to Oliver poking my cheek but as I heard more  "Amelia" "Ollie leave her" I heard Owen whisper shout, i cant remember the last time i was left in bed. "No, Amelia takes me to school on Fridays and we have macdonalds breakfast" I could hear his tiny foot stamp. "Ollie" I heard footsteps come nearer to the bed, I darednt open my eyes. I heard the sound of Ollie fighting the grip of Owen. "Come on well go for macdonalds" no matter how much Owen tried to bribe him he wasnt having any of it.

"Oliver Andrew Farrell, if you go in that bedroom you wont go to rugby tomorrow" this is the angriest I heard Owen be at Olliver and a big sigh from Oliver followed. It was quite amusing to listen to Owen sort out Oliver for school. Shortly the banging around in the kitchen  started then the slam of the front door leaving a silent house. I completely spread out on the bed and fell back asleep.

"Baby, you awake? I brought breakfast" the sound of his voice and the smell of a good old McMuffin instantly woke me up. "I am now" he laughed. "Had fun this morning?" I laughed and he rolled his eyes. "Did we wake you up?" "I think the whole neighbourhood heard you two!" Owen shrugged as he bit into his breakfast. "I've got to go training today, are you going to be ok?" I nodded "I'll just go work out downstairs" he looked pained.

Soon after breakfast, Owen left. I changed into some training clothes, wearing my 10 Farrell Shirt. In the garden we had a rugby post set up, so I practiced my kicking. Everytime I ran out of balls, meaning I had to go and collect them, I admired the river that ran behind the garden. This side was all houses but the other side was a walkway.

Something felt wrong, so I decided to go inside "oi you" I heard a scream and didnt want to turn around "I'm talking to you Amelia" "the least you could do is face me after putting my son in jail. Making me move here just so I can be there for my son! Unlike you who abandon everyone and then play the victim" she was the other side of the river but still too close for my liking. "I know where you live now! You wont get anywhere with that rugby career! Just give up now" I nearly laughed out loud. "What the world cup winning and the league winnings were for nothing?" My sarcastic tone was not as hidden as I would like.

"No Amelia, you didnt do anything! You just take credit for everything everyone else does! Who is your latest gold digger victim?" Suddenly my blood began to boil. "Just my husband Owen Farrell" I laughed. Their family was always big rugby fans so they'd know exactly who he was. "Feel free to come back about 1, he should be back then" I laughed.

"You dont deserve anyone, you deserve to live a miserable life. You selfish, back stabbing gold digging waste of space. Karma will get you!" Says the toxic woman "if this is what Karma feels like bring it all on! I'm quite enjoying having a career, house, husband and a son" I laughed sadistically and walked down the garden back to the house.

I'm better than them! I'm stronger than them!
