So today is the day where I get my dress fitted, everyone was here, my sister, Nicola, Charly, Abbi, Mum, Colleen and Owen's two sisters. Of course Charly, Abbi, my sister and Owen's sisters were bridesmaids. I dont know how Abbis going to get a dress for a growing baby bump. She was about 4 months pregnant, by time the wedding she would be about 5 months.
The bridal shop was beautiful, I've never seen anything like it. Every type of dress in every different white you could imagine. I already knew what my perfect wedding dress would be. Of course, Colleen pretty much took over which irritated me, if I'm honest I didn't really want her here but I couldnt say no could I? She kept going on how it's going to be the wedding of the year. I didnt want anything big, just beautiful.
We did the bridesmaid dresses first, Owen wanted a red and white themed wedding to match the England and Saracens colours. Typical really. My dream yellow themed wedding had gone out the window. We wanted something flowy not tight fitted otherwise we might struggle with Abbi. We went through every single type of dress, one strapped, lace sleeves, tight fitting, pretty much every type of dress you could picture.
All I heard was
"What about this?"
"No"
"This"
"Ew no"
"What then?"
It was like they'd all taken over and I just sat there and watched like normal. Until finally we found the dress I instantly fell in love with. It had a transparent lace pattern on top with some white lace on, with a sweetheart neckline, it wasnt tight fitting it was straight legged so room for baby Youngs. The girls jumped up and down, while the older ones agreed on it. The bridesmaids tried on the dresses. I was getting bored of dress shopping now. "Champagne for the bride?" The lovely young shop assistant asked. "Think I need it with this lot" I laughed which got me a slap on the arm from my mother.
All of the girls came out in unison. "That is perfect" "beautiful" "I love it" I just admired how beautiful my best friends and sister looked. "Definitely the one, my turn now" I pretty much had already picked out what dress I wanted.
Everyone pretty much pulled out their own perfect dress for me, the only ones that pulled out something remotely close to what I would want was Charly and Abbi but I pulled out a dress from the racking which had a matching sweetheart line, which hugged my figure perfectly at the top then spread out to a princess type of dress. The top of the dress was covered in tiny sparkles, which glistened in the light. Charly did the honours of tightening the corset at the back. "Breathe in" as she pulled the silk ribbon tight, nearly knocking all the air out of me.
I stepped on the slightly raised platform, admiring myself in the mirror. No one said anything. It looked awful didnt it! I turned to the girls, "well?" Their eyes widened at me "it looks horrible doesnt it?" I've never felt so disappointed before. "No you look" my mum paused and wiped a tear from her eye "beautiful" a sigh of relief left my lips. "It is perfect, Owen is so lucky!" Colleen added.
Me and my bridesmaids stood together all in our dresses and admired how perfect we looked! "The boys wont know what hit them" I laughed. "Just need flowers now and then we can organise our make up and hair trials" Abbi was way more excited about the hair and make up than the dress! "Let's order the flowers!" I cheered with everyone else following.
We all got changed out the dress, I suddenly felt quite plain after taking the dress off. We admired all the flowers. "Owen wants Roses" I rolled my eyes. This is more like a rugby themed wedding more than our wedding. "Red Roses with a few white roses in the middle?" The girls agreed. This was easier than I thought. I dread to think how the lads are getting on, probably all drunk by now. I held a sample bouquet in my hand. Everyone agreed but Colleen, of course. She took the bouquet out my hand and started rearranging flowers "perfect" she handed it back to me looking all proud. I smiled but I hated the bouquet arrangement. Random white flowers round the bouquet looks weird. I turned to the florist and whispered "first arrangement please" she nodded and gave me a sympathetic smile.
My Mum and Dad paid for the wedding dress, suppose theyve got to be seen to make an effort, then Colleen and Andy paid for the bridesmaid dresses. Then I, well Owen, paid for the flowers. Everything was working out nicely. We put everything in Colleens car and headed into the local cocktail bar. Of course that would turn messy.
We walked into the bar, which I wanted to walk straight back out of, Owen and the lads were propped up against the bar laughing their heads off. "At least this ones not with you for your money" they all laughed, until Ben nudged Owen and suddenly they all shut up. "Well I think lads that was quite a successful shopping trip" Owen tried to stand up straight. "No fooling me Farrell. So much for I'm not drinking" I mimicked Owen's little speech earlier. "I havent had a single drink!" He wobbled on the spot. I slapped his arm "just get me a drink, then were even" he laughed and did what he was told with the lads following with "not even married yet and Whipped already"
All the couples coupled up while we all found a massive table. "Not even going to give me a hint on your dress?" Owen whispered. "No chance!" I looked at him disgusted. "You look beautiful in no matter what, soon to be Mrs Farrell"
