The celebratory of the wedding finally has worn off, people still congratulate me here and there when they havent seen me. I havent seen the girls since the wedding, were due to play them next week but of course Abbi is about to pop any minute now so she wont be on the pitch. Even when the boys played Owen, they didn't come down with them which was strange.
I feel distant from reality, this new life is too good to be true. Owen was better than ever and Ollie was the best little boy in the world. Holly doesnt have Oliver at all these days, it's worse now than ever. Hes just started his first year in reception and honestly I couldnt be prouder, he brings home drawings of us every day. The fridge is full of them, when it gets too cramped I sneak one or two in the bin and hope he doesnt notice.
The count down to the belated honeymoon began as Ollie was counting down til christmas of course. While Ollie was at school, me and Owen went to the gym. We separated at the entrance as he did his training and I did mine. Of course, I seen him looking over to me more times than not. He quickly looked away as I text him "I'm on to you Farrell" I giggled at my phone waiting for him to see the text. He let out a loud laugh and he got some strange looks. I carried on with my work out blocking out every sound and thought I could.
I felt a pull on my arm "we got to go" Owen looked worried. I didnt ask questions just followed him out, his 1 footstep was 3 of my footsteps. "Abbi's gone into labour" he explained as he tossed everything into the car. Ok? But why didnt I get a phone call? Why did Owen get told first. Of course, we collected Oliver from school "Mr and Mrs Farrell can you confirm the reason to why Oliver will be leaving early?" I zoned out "family emergency" Owen abruptly told the snobby receptionist. Of course Oliver came running up to us, Owen quickly picked him up and might as well have been running to the car, why was he more excited than me?
Of course I fell asleep the journey and so had Oliver "Amelia wake up" Owen nudged my shoulder when I opened my eyes we were already at the hospital. A sleepy Oliver was already in Owen's arms. Owen practically ran through the car park leaving me trailing behind, I didnt even feel like I should be here.
Charly and Ellis were already of course, I presume Ellis was the one to tell Owen. "Amelia!" Charly screamed "I've missed you" she squeezed my body and I managed to mumble "ive missed you too" Oliver ran into Charlys arms "Auntie Charly" which let me take a seat before the 101 questions came. Of course, Oliver now woke up properly and became everyone's focal point which I was glad about.
Ben came out "we had a little boy, you can all come in now" the boys hugged Ben and followed him in first leaving me and Charly behind. She stopped me from walking any further "What's the matter?" She looked sincere "nothing I'm just tired, been one of them weeks" I laughed it off but she gave me the mum look but let it pass. Abbi looked so good for someone who had just gave birth!
I kept admiring the baby, he was so tiny with the cutest little tuff of hair. He occasionally made some noises but that was it "We are thinking of calling him" Abbi paused and looked at Ben "Toby Benjamin Youngs" everyone awed. "I love Toby" Oliver repeated who was just as fixed on Toby as I was. "Thinking of having one yourself" Abbi nudged me, I could see Owen looking at me with a glimmer of hope in his eyes "maybe one day" Owen frowned "maybe?" "Can I have a baby brother Dad?" Oliver piped up "maybe one day" Owen mimicked me.
We got Abbi settled in back at home, of course she opened a bottle of wine "I've been waiting 9 months for this" she laughed. "We better head off" I broke the laughter up "long journey ahead of us. Be good to see you on the pitch again Wood!" I laughed "be prepared to loose this time" I rolled my eyes playfully. We shared goodbyes, me Owen and Oliver hitting the road again.
The fact that Owen got the call not me still bothered me, I didnt want to out stay my welcome. As soon as I left my phone was spammed with;
Text us when you're home
Love and miss you
Cant wait to be back on the pitch
You have to come up again soon
Of course I did my usual napping in the car leaving Owen to wake me up. It was about 7 o'clock by time we got home, not bad only out the house for what, 8 hours. Not bad! Owen got a shower immediately when we got in, of course we were still in gym gear. Oliver was watching the television so no nothing new. I quickly grabbed my headphones and wrote a note.
"Going for a run be back soon x"
I started on my usual route around the country roads. Imagine dragons started to play through my headphones. I just ran, clearing my head and my thoughts. Luckily no one was around at the time in the evening. So my path was pretty clear. My route always consisted of one of the local picnic parks, which we always take Oliver too.
I lost my footing over something and I heard a yelp. I turned back "I'm so sorr-" I instantly froze. "Oh its you" the smirk grew on their face "never knew you lived round here, how peculiar" my eyes widened as the figure stood up.
"How can a worthless woman like you, live in such a beautiful place like this?" I quickly turned and sprinted home. "That's it run like you always do, whose the next man you hide behind?" Those words cut me like a knife, why cant wounds just stay healed?
