They all stayed silent and their mouths wide open. I waved my hand in front of the girls "sorry, but did you say twins?" Charly widened her eyes. I nodded slowly. "Two Farrell babies?" Abbi added. They were more shocked then me and Owen were. We did share some tears at the hospital.
"Baby?" Oliver snapped away from the television. Me and Owen shared a smile. "Ollie you're going to be a big brother" Owen couldnt finish his sentence before Ollie screamed and dived on Owen, who kept Ollie from jumping on me. I dont know how he'll react if we tell him theres two.
They finally snapped out of their shock, "congrats man" Ben was the first to hug Owen. Abbi kicked Owen off the couch and took his space and Charly came the other side of me "were happy for you Amelia" "proud of you" they both hugged me. "Now get your feet up and get them buns cooking mama" Charly ordered me.
"You'll have to get one cooking soon" I laughed at Charly and she looked sheepish at Ellis. I narrowed my eyes at her "well you know I didnt play this week or for the last few weeks?" I scrunched up my face, I didnt notice she wasnt on the pitch, she was in the changing room though? Did she never have her kit on? "Well, weve got a bun too! I promise you I was going to tell you today but I didnt want to steal your limelight" I ran over to her so did Abbi "Toby is going to have so many cousins!" "At least one of us can still play!" I was dreading the time off but at least I had Charly.
"That explains the mood swings for the last month" I laughed at Charly but I soon shut up as soon as I seen her mum look. Abbi was trying to hold in a laugh too. "Its a shame we cant have a drink to celebrate" Owen laughed "well you can!" I stuck my bottom lip out at him "dont worry, I wont!" I raised my eyebrow at him, how long will this last? "We can go nursery shopping together!" I nudged Charly, "I'm still coming" Abbi piped in! The boys rolled their eyes in unison, which meant all of them got a hit on the arm. I got a sharp pain across my stomach again, the doctor said I would get these on and off for the next 24 hours.
I was ordered to get cosy on the couch by Charly of course, who ordered Owen to get me blankets and Ellis to make a cup of tea. They darednt mess with a hormonal pregnant lady. We worked out, Charly was a few weeks behind me, well according to the doctor at the hospital anyway! They couldnt be 100% accurate, but looks like my injury was clearly a sign to stop me from playing rugby.
We ended up laughing and talking our way through the evening. Its day one of babies and some how we have planned the next eighteen years. Abbi has taken control of baby showers and gender reveals. "I guess it explains this lump" I laughed and pointed to my stomach "not just holiday and injury gains" Charly laughed, recalling all the whining I did to them about the weight I was gaining.
"That lump will be the best two things you could ever imagine, seriously the weight, pain and tiredness doesnt even cross your mind when you have them in your arms" Abbi admired Toby who was fast asleep in the travel cot. "I'll call them my little spuds for now" I laughed and Owen sent me a disapproving look.
It was getting late and all of us were tired from today's antics. Owen insisted he will sort Ollie and ordered me to get to bed. I felt like a child with all this ordering around. Even my comfiest pyjamas didnt feel comfy anymore. As soon as my head hit the pillow my eyes were no longer tired and my head filled with 101 questions.
How am I going to tell everyone? Will i be a good mother? Theres two of them not one. Theres going to be three children in this house.
Owen interrupted my thoughts "what's the matter?" He threw his body next to me, shaking the bed. I shook my head "Amelia" his voice was filled with worry. "Just feeling overwhelmed, it wasnt suppose to happen this quick" Owen wrapped his arm round me "Owen theres freaking two" he laughed at me "two mini versions of us" he tried to sympathise with me "yeah exactly" we both laughed.
He pulled me over to him "theres two, yes, it wont be easy I know, but weve got each other" I nodded "look weve even got the girls, plus theres houses down the road for sale" he wiggled his eyebrows at me. "The girls?" I shot up "possibly, depends if they can persuade the boys to move to saracens" I rolled my eyes of course they wont agree.
"Daddy" the little voice opened the door "Ollie what did I tell you" Owen scolded "I" "i, just wanted to say night to the baby and give Amelia a hug" Owen looked at me "come here Ollie" I sat up, he ran over to me "night night baby, I love you" he going to be the best big brother. He hugged me and ran out the room.
Me and Owen spooned, he had one hand on my stomach "you'll be the best mother to these little spuds, you're already a good mother to Ollie" he half heartedly laughed "it's only day one weve got another 32 weeks to go" I held his hand. "Let's hope it's boys, we can start our own rugby team" I rolled my eyes.
Owen kissed me on the head, which he probably got a mouthful of hair and mumbled "Goodnight my little spuds, I love you so much already"
