It was another full moon and the marauders were given detention by the one and only Professor Minerva 'Minnie' McGonagall. Remus was obviously excused and the others sat in the silent and tense classroom.

"It was very irresponsible of—" the professor started but Sirius cut her off.

"Very irresponsible of us to do such prank and fill the common rooms with silly green bubbles. It was also very stupid of us to fill our own common room with bubbles just to avoid getting caught. Did I get that right?" Sirius mocked McGonagall, he put on a huge grin.

"Yes, Mr. Black, if you're aware of your mistakes, why repeat them?" McGonagall asked with her stern voice. Sirius stayed silent.

"Professor, may I ask a question?" James said.

"Yes, Mr. Potter."

"Say there's this person who wants to, you know, become an animagus, hypothetically, of course, all made up. What would this person have to do, hypothetically, to become an animagus, hypothetically?" he said. Riley facepalmed and Peter's eyes filled with worry, he thought McGonagall would get angry.

"I highly doubt why you would need that sort of information, Mr. Potter."

"Just asking for our own curiosity. We're very interested in Transfiguration, as you're an amazing teacher and—" Sirius started.

"Thank you, Mr. Black, for the compliment, but I cannot tell you how to become an animagus. Will you please now take out your quills and start writing or shall I send an invitation in order for you to start? Perhaps a nice little tea party?"

The four friends unwillingly took their quills out and began writing an essay on why pranks are not permitted in Hogwarts. As the room was in utter silence, the doors opened as a small boy with black hair, and a large nose came in.

"Snape?! Why is he here?!" Riley asked whispering. She sighed and looked at Snape with disgust.

"Mr. Snape, please sit next to Miss Spade and begin writing your missing essay on this class," McGonagall ordered.

Turns out the perfect teacher's pet Snivelly Severus Snape can in fact forget to turn in his homework, Riley thought. Riley looked at McGonagall with eyes almost speaking for themselves.

"Please, professor..." Riley's eyes indicated but McGonagall didn't change her mind. Snape began writing hastily. His handwriting was very small, almost impossible to read, and he was writing in cursive letters.

"Looks like you're being punished for ruining our common room, Spade," Snape snarled with a whisper.

"Looks like you're being punished for not being the perfect student, Snape."

"Of course, it isn't a surprise to see you and your filthy friends here... Even the way you write gives it away..." Snape said with his monotone voice, paused between his words.

"Why do you care? Piss off."

"Silence!" McGonagall shouted.

The four Marauders rushed to the hospital wing the next morning for their friend Remus. He was lying on the hospital bed and Madam Pomfrey was healing his scars.

He had a big scar on his face which Madam Pomfrey made mostly vanish, but it could be seen if someone looked carefully. His arms were covered in bandages that Pomfrey had put earlier.

Riley looked at Remus for a moment. She felt bad for him, but also, something else. She thought he was a nice friend, a good person, kind, smart, witty, even sarcastic. He was the Marauder Riley got along with the best, her thoughts were interrupted by Peter.

"Moony, what happened to your face?" Peter asked. Remus looked at him with a stare and didn't speak.

"Pete — I think you do know but — forget it," James said. "How was it?" he asked. Remus stared at James this time.

"These questions are just brilliant. It was the best night of my life and yeah, I just love the full moon, so beautiful and relaxing. I think they call a person who loves the moon a selenophile, guess I'm one. I also saw a werewolf on the way when I was coming here and he hurt me guess I'm a werewolf now," Remus answered sarcastically.

"Sorry, mate."

"Here's your homework, I did it during detention," Riley said as she put two pieces of parchment paper on the bed, right next to him. He quickly said "thanks."

"Are you gonna come to the first class?" Sirius asked.

"He won't. He will stay here for the first block, right, Mr. Lupin?" Madam Pomfrey said seriously as she looked at Remus.

"Yes..." he answered back with rolling his eyes. He hated missing classes and Madam Pomfrey made him stay in the hospital wing sometimes which Remus couldn't avoid.

It was another History of Magic class. Professor Binns floated around the classroom, checking if everyone was writing down notes or not. Riley hated History of Magic but kept taking notes just not to get detention. Her messy handwriting covered the paper. James and Sirius were taking notes as well, Peter missed some parts of the class and just copied their notes. Remus kept accidentally falling asleep. His eyelids felt heavy and he didn't get any sleep that night. He was sitting next to Riley, and sometimes without knowingly, he put his head on Riley's arm but then he realized quickly and tried to focus on Professor Binns' words.

On his other side, sat Sirius. He also kept doing the same to him, but seemed to notice very late, or even didn't bother to lift his head from Sirius' arm.

"Now, the topic for The Medieval Assembly of European Wizards is over and we will be moving onto — Mr. Lupin!" his tone changed from extremely boring to even more boring. Remus quickly lifted his head from Sirius' arm and looked up.

"Take my notes," Sirius said as he handed Remus a copy of his notes. He has been taking two notes, one for himself, one for Remus.

After they got out of the class, they went downstairs to get lunch from The Great Hall.

"Aren't you gonna eat?" James asked Remus. Remus shook his head.

"I don't want to — James!" Remus was interrupted as James started shoving food in his mouth. "What the hell, James?!"

"You have to eat, you will feel better Moony."

"We have a Potions Exam the next week," Riley interrupted both of them.

"I don't like Potions, it's dumb," Sirius said.

"Me neither. Transfiguration is much better..." James agreed. That year they felt like their disliked Potions exam would be the worst thing they'd have to face in life. What they didn't know was the events waiting for them the next years of their life...
