July 1st, 1975

Riley entered the house numbered '23.' It was the first week of the summer holiday. Just two months later, she would be starting her fifth year at Hogwarts. She knocked on the door and Ethan opened the door.

"Seriously Penny you have to get out of your room!" he shouted without looking at who it was at the door. He slowly turned to Riley and his eyes widened as he saw her.

"She's being lazy, isn't she?" Riley said laughingly. She looked at how Ethan looked. So much taller and older compared to last December. His small brown eyes glistened as the sunlight hit them. He was wearing a short-sleeved mustard yellow t-shirt and jeans. They hugged each other and Riley quickly went inside. Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey weren't home and Ethan seemed bored. Surprisingly, the weather at Pine Road was very hot.

"Penny!" Riley shouted as she rushed upstairs.

"Is that Riley?!" Penny shouted back.

"No, it's Vicky— Penny honestly who the fuck can it be!" Riley said loudly. Penny got out of her room and ran downstairs. Riley almost fell down the stairs as she hugged her.

"Let's go to the garden!" Penny said as she opened the back door.

"You never come out of your room and I get bored the whole summer but you come out because Riley's here?!" Ethan complained.

"You're here the whole time, she's not!" Penny said. "And believe me you're very boring."

"I swear, since when did you start fighting all the time?" Riley said teasingly.

"Since she became lazy!"

"Since he started acting like a seventy-two-year-old!"

"Alright, I'll just shut up," Riley said.

Riley arrived home the same night and went up to her room to see an owl waiting on the windowsill. It had only been two days since she was back, who could be sending her a letter? She tore the envelope open and saw the big handwriting.

Riley,

Ok so we're not accepting any excuses this time, you have to come over to my house this summer. Seriously, we feel like we're leaving you out of things because you never come over! This is like the hundredth time I'm asking this but PLEASE can you ask your mum and come over next week?

See you in a week!

James.

Of course, it was James. Who else could it be? The things he wrote were very true indeed and Riley laughed as she read the letter. She then went downstairs to let her mum and Ivy know about it. She didn't know how she would go there if they would let her... Why wouldn't they? Riley never asked her mum nor Ivy if she could go to the Potter's. She just didn't want to spend the holiday away from her family, who knew how long they would be there for her?

Hello James,

Good news, I'll come on Tuesday!

Riley.

Riley sat on her bed and closed the door behind her. Her room looked cleaner than usual, due to her being away for a long time. Of course, her mum cleaned it when she was away. Mrs. Spade was very annoyed by how her room looked. She placed her ukulele on her lap and held it close to herself. She also grabbed some paper and a black inked pen.

She played a few notes first. Just random ones. She didn't know what she was doing but it sounded fine. She noted the tune she played in a corner with her unreadable handwriting. She just wished she could use magic out of school, it made everything easier.

She then hummed to the soft tune she played as she noted the melody down. It was very late at night and none of the lights were on except the one next to her bed. It didn't give much light out but it was enough for Riley. She played the notes very gently and softly, unlike her normal style, so that nobody woke up. She looked at the clock which was now buried under the pieces of crumpled paper. 03:48. Great. She wasn't sleepy, she would wake up very early as usual no matter when she slept.

After a while, she put the ukulele down and just hummed quietly. She took the paper and the pen to scribble down some words that went along with the tune. No. It didn't really work. She put everything down on the floor, well... sort of dropped them. She then flinched at the thud it made and waited, paralyzed. There wasn't any sound coming from the house so she slowly pulled the sheets and put her head on the soft pillow.

A/N:

This is a very short chapter but I need to write the other things on the other chapter cause it will be too long if I write them here. Thank you for reading this! I'll probably update today again, I have free time.
