20th of June, 1978
School was coming to an end, the NEWT exams were completed, the ball was over, the only thing left to win was the Quidditch Cup.
James seemed more excited about the Inter-House Quidditch Cup than any other year. He was making the team practice hours every day to ensure that they won the cup. He took it very seriously, considering it was going to be his last year at Hogwarts.
The day arrived, the match was about to start between Slytherin and Gryffindor, as expected.
"Welcome everyone to the final quidditch match of the year!" screamed Liam Blake into the megaphone. "Today, we will be watching the tremendous battle between the two greatest teams Hogwarts has ever seen; Gryffindor versus Slytherin!"
The doors to the pitch opened as he announced, players took their places in the pitch. Riley looked over at Aidan, who was glaring at Regulus Black with his bat in his right hand. Riley looked at Mulciber and Avery.
Mulciber seemed confident as well as Avery. Although Riley was confident of herself, she knew the Slytherins were good at quidditch, especially their seeker. Regulus had broken the record in years to catch the snitch fastest, in under two minutes.
"The players have taken their places, captains Potter and Mulciber are at the front, waiting for Madam Hooch to blow the whistle!" announced Liam. Madam Hooch blew the whistle, then threw the quaffle up in the air.
"The game has begun!"
As usual, James was the first to grab the quaffle and aim for the score. However, the Slytherin keeper stretched his arm out, blocking the quaffle.
Meanwhile, Riley got ahold of the bat, swinging it forward and hitting the bludger towards the quaffle now aiming for the Gryffindor hoops.
"Spade hits the quaffle with the bludger to avoid Mulciber from scoring!" said Blake. Gryffindors cheered, Slytherins booed. "We don't get to see beaters hitting quaffles with bludgers a lot!"
Violet Grayson flew through the crowd and caught the quaffle going out of the pitch. She later passed it to James who was near the Slytherin hoops.
"Potter scores!" screamed Liam Blake. "Gryffindor is now at 10 points!"
Riley looked over at James chanting along with the Gryffindors at the bleachers, laughing and smiling proudly. Riley rolled her eyes with a smile and flew over to the clump of Slytherins.
"Mulciber is now aiming to the — he scored!" screamed Liam Blake in just a matter of seconds. "He did not let the Gryffindors have the lead, not the teams are equal, 10 to 10!"
The Slytherins roared, chanting now. Mulciber had his fist out up in the air, acting as if he won the whole match.
Riley's anger didn't last long as she saw Aidan grinning at the bludger coming towards him with his bat ready in hand. Riley laughed to herself as she saw him looking at Regulus Black.
He hit the bludger. It flew towards Regulus, making him fall off his broom.
"Aidan Zhao almost made Regulus Black fall off his broom!" announced Liam Blake. "Gotta say, that would've been interesting — sorry professor."
"Meanwhile, the quaffle is now at Potter," said Liam. "He throws it to Grayson, she passed it to Kyle Clarke — SCORE!"
The Gryffindors were up on their feet again. But Riley took the advantage of the Slytherins being distracted and spotted a bludger.
She flew towards it, flinging her bat and directing it towards Mulciber.
"Spade hits Mulciber with the bludger! He fell off his broom! One chaser from the Slytherin team is now out!" announced Liam Blake. Riley grinned, she saw Aidan also grinning.
The game went on. The Slytherins were not as successful as they were the whole year or even compared to the other years. Riley was helping the team score more by injuring the other players. Aidan looked so happy to finally be able to direct the bludgers to the Slytherins, especially Regulus. James was scoring more points than ever.
"Avery aims the bludger to Zhao — the bludger hit him! But Zhao isn't giving up, he didn't fall off!"
Riley looked at Aidan who now held the bat in his left hand instead of right. He was obviously in pain, but he still hit the bludger beside him.
"Zhao now hit Avery!" exclaimed Liam. "Things are getting brutal, they don't seem to like each other much. Meanwhile, Potter scores once again! I think this must be some sort of record!"
Riley noticed Davey Gudgeon fly towards something, something tiny and shiny. Regulus Black was already out of the game, this made everything easier for him.
"Gudgeon seems to have noticed the golden snitch! He's going after something, and the Slytherin seeker, Regulus Black, isn't in the game!"
Riley watched Davey go up in the sky, trying so hard to catch the snitch. Everybody could tell Felicity Jones was a better seeker than he was, but he was a good player too. At least he knew the rules, unlike Davis.
"Come on, Gudgeon!" Riley heard Aidan scream. Suddenly, Davey stopped.
"Gudgeon stopped! Does this mean — HE HAS THE GOLDEN SNITCH!" announced Liam Blake. "GRYFFINDOR WINS! GRYFFINDOR WINS THE CUP!"
Riley had never felt this happy in her seventh year. She smiled hugely, looking at the bleachers. McGonagall had her hands over his mouth, almost jumping around in joy. James was almost screaming, the Gryffindors were chanting...
Riley got down to the ground at the same time as the others. The Gryffindors from the bleachers.
"We won!" exclaimed James. Riley hugged him, Violet and Kyle also rushed next to them.
Riley saw Lily running towards them, throwing her arms around James. James looked at Lily, then pressed his lips against hers. Everyone watched them, even McGonagall.
"Thanks a lot for the help, traitors!" shouted Aidan in the middle of everything. He was clutching his arm, sitting on the floor. Everyone had forgotten about the bludger almost knocking him off his broomstick.
