Chapter 24: Her Brilliance

I don't know why a specific girl caught the attention of many— Including mine.

Just one look from her and you can already see the beauty not only she radiates, but also holds. Pero hindi na iyon bago sa amin. I am a daughter of Aphrodite, alam ko na ganito rin ang nararamdaman ng ilan sa'kin.

But there is something different about the girl named Kasdeya Argyros. She's a piece of unanswered mystery and there's an unusual eerie air around her.

Her face can sometimes be as blank as a canvas, before breaking into the sweetest, most innocent smile I have ever come across. A smile even more enchanting than a siren's call. Ang hirap niyang basahin.

She's just someone I'm familiar with, not someone I know.

To be fair, ngayon ko lang naman siya nakasama ng matagal at wala pa kaming maayos na interaksyon. Pero kahit si Kuya Paris at River, na mas matagal niyang nakasama, walang alam tungkol sakaniya.

Usually, when you know and spend a lot of time with someone even for just a short amount of time, you would know a few things about them. Even one night can change the relationship between two people. But not with her.

Parang ang hirap niyang abutin. No matter how much we want to get closer, it's like she's running away. Ngunit ang nakakapagtaka ay hindi iyon intensyonal.

She's interested in other things, so much so that she can't even notice anything else.

Gano'n kami kay Kasdeya. We want to be know more about her, but her attitude drives us away from her. Parang ang hirap makuha ng atensyon niya. She wants nothing to do with us.

That's why I'm confused about her. It doesn't help na her personality confuses me too. Ano ba talaga? Is she innocent, just like how her soft appearance portrays her or is she a cold person with no feelings at all?

I'm gifted with the ability to read emotions, but she's blocking me. Hindi naman bago sa akin iyon. Many people know how to block my abilities, intentionally or not, like Reinn, Aether, and Theon. Kasdeya's another addition to the list.

Sumasakit ang ulo ko kahit iniisip ko palang kung ano bang meron sakaniya.

But this whole scene that's unraveling before me, just makes me more curious.

"Because this is getting stupid... And I already know who the killer is."

"Y-you... What?" Hindi makapaniwalang saad ng babaeng kinausap namin kanina. Napailing-iling pa ito na tila hindi makapaniwala. "How can you know what happened in such a small amount of time?"

A small smirk touches Kasdeya's lips. Dahan dahan siyang umupo muli sa kanyang upuan. She crosses her right leg over her left at humalukipkip din siya bago sumandal sa upuan.

She slightly tilts her head to the side in a mocking manner. "You want to know how?"

Tumango ang mga babae. The way they nod earnestly makes them look desperate for answers, unlike earlier when they are ready to throw us in jail.

Sinulyapan ko si Kasdeya. Dumapo ang isang matamis na ngiti sa kaniyang labi. "Sit down then. All of you."

Kahit hindi para sa amin ang utos na iyon ay agad kaming napasunod ni Kas. Nawala ang kapit sa akin ng mga Amazons kaya nagmadali kong hinawakan ang aking upuan at naupo doon.

Kasdeya hums to herself, while everyone just watches her. Including me.

Maingat kong sinuri ang kaniyang ginagawa. Her leg crosses over the other while it swings slightly, her eyes looking up as if she's thinking deeply. Tila natutuwa siya na mabilis sumunod ang mga tao sakaniya.
