KASDEYA ARGYROS' Point of View

"Ms. Argyros! Sandali!"

His desperate voice cut my thin line of patience in a snap. I groan to myself.

My ears are locked for any other noise than my own breathing and my eyes refuse to see any reason.

Alam kong may point siya na manatili ako rito. I may have said that I can protect myself from the monsters, but it's only a bluff.

But once they finally find my hiding place, it would be the end for me.

"What the hell?"

"Please listen to me, Ms. Argyros," Hindi niya pinansin ang sinabi ko. "We need your help. We're desperate to save the Commander and you are the key to make that achievable."

Like you said, I know how ruthless Katharsis can be. You're basically asking me to risk myself getting caught up with their schemes again."

What part of 'living normally' does he not understand?

Hindi ako sigurado kung aware siya, but he's asking me for too much. Helping him by giving classified information about their secrets can put my life in danger, lalo na kung papalpak sila.

I'm not going to lose everything I worked hard for because of something that doesn't concern me in the first place.

He can't expect me to care about this, not even one bit.

I know he's desperate, but there is nothing he can say to change my mind. Besides, what knowledge do I have about saving other people?

"Please, Ms. Argyros. Pag-isipan mo muna ito―"

"This is the problem with you, Adonis.

Stilettos click on the marble floors as a woman in a black dress walks toward us. She has midnight black hair tied in a braided bun on top of her head.

Napaatras ako dahil nakakakilabot ang kanyang presensya. It's like snakes are crawling up my skin and something is pulling me beneath the ground.

The glare she sports is cold and sharp. Unlike the man next to me, she looks enigmatic and intimidating. Mukhang mas bata rin siya kay Adonis ng ilang taon but it's hard to tell with the violet lipstick and black shadow.

"Franchesca." Tawag ni Adonis. If he's calm and gentle, then this newly arrived woman is the exact opposite of him.

"This is Kasdeya Argyros?"

Pinaningkitan niya ako ng mga mata. The glow in her mistifying purple eyes intensifies with the light collected in her irises. I gulp silently, my body rooted in place in both distrust and caution.

We have a long stare down as I try to unravel the mysteries hidden beneath her gaze, and she does the same with me.
