Chapter 33: Stheno

KASDEYA ARGYROS' Point of View

Napatigil ako sa pagtakbo nang may humila sa akin mula sa likod. My breathing hitches at the warm feeling of something firm encircling my waist, stopping me from my tracks.

Nagpumiglas ako. "Let me go!"

"Snap out of it, Argyros!"

I summon my dagger in one hand. Akmang sasaksakin ko siya sa kaniyang tiyan nang bigla niyang hawakan ang palapulsuhan ko. A gasp escapes my lips when he pushes me down the ground.

The grass tickles my nape while he cages my body with his. Hindi ko na alam kung saan napunta ang weapon ko dahil nawala ito sa aking kamay nang hawakan ni Theon ang magkabila kong palapulsuhan.

He pins my arms down beside my head, my eyes staring up at his engraged ones. Mas lalo akong hindi nakagalaw dahil inuupuan niya ang tiyan ko. The wounds on his abdomen stain his ripped shirt with blood- a mix of sanguine and gold.

Bahagyang tumataas at bumababa ng kaniyang dibdib habang nakatingin sa akin. I can feel his blood trickling from his body to mine, tainting my own clothes. He doesn't even flinch when he moves.

Nanliliksik ang aking tingin sakaniya. "Get off of me, Alastor!" Stheno's hissing can't compete with the volume of my voice, drowning the open forest and disturbing the rustle of leaves.

"Calm down, Kasdeya!" Sigaw muli ni Theon.

Hindi ako sumunod. I wriggle beneath him, trying to get him away even though he's much stronger and heavier than me. The grip on my arms gets tighter with every sign of disobedience. In the end, I just tired myself out.

Yumuko si Theon para mahuli ang paningin ko. "You dare ignore my orders?" He spats with the most poisonous venom he can muster. "You're pathetic."

"I don't care." Malamig kong saad. "Get out of my way, Alastor."

"Don't be stupid!" He quickly counters back. "Your blind desperation will only fuck up with the entire mission. I need you to work with me, Argyros. Your insane methods won't help you track her down."

I click my tongue. "I need to get my necklace back!"

Wala siyang ideya kung ano ang pinagsasasabi ko. I've never told him the exact reason why I came with him in the first place.

But he only gazes at me as if he understand what I'm going through, that he knows every little detail about my thoughts and motives.

I never saw him as someone who'd show an ounce of empathy. Him, of all people?

"And I will help you take it back. In exchange for my support, I require your cooperation. That's not so hard, is it?"

Napapikit ako ng marahan bago huminga ng malalim. Amidst the darkness, I can hear his loud breathing. They sound like a symphony of comfort in my ears.

Nang dumilat ako, bumungad sa akin ang namumungay niyang mga mata.

That's when his loud breathing became uneven.

Awtomatikong napunta sa sugat niya ang tingin ko. I would have covered my mouth with my hands if I could, because I didn't expect this.

Theon's body is almost fully pressed on mine, but that's the least of my concerns. Tila nawawalan na siya ng lakas habang nakadagan sa akin.

While in between our stomachs is a pool of blood spilling through the verdant grass, coloring it with the richness of wine. When the sun hits it in certain angles, fragments of gold hues show up beneath the field of crimson.

Muntik nang maging pula ang mga suot namin. Nanlaki ang mga mata ko. He chased after me and through all that, he's bleeding tremendously.

"Roll over. Your wound is getting worse." Utos ko sakaniya habang ngumingiwi siya.
