Breaking The Surface

The ninja, Gleck, and Vangless having escaped ran for their lives with the babes clutched tightly to their bodies. They were crying "Mama! Mama!" and nothing was quieting their poor innocent souls. They heard the screaming of the other munce and geckles who could not get away and they were running blind. "Gleck! We need to get out of these caves where do we go?" Lloyd asks the only geckle to escape.

Gleck gave a nod and pointed ahead. "Follow me!" He yells running ahead of the group. They follow the short purple geckle as he leads them through the mazes of caves. "Just past here!" Gleck yells as they arrived around a corner only to stop short. Blocking the entrance to the next cave were troops of skeletons with the now skull possessed Kai were waiting for them. The skull laughs at the horror on their faces seeing what it had done to a member of their family.

"Mama!" The trio of babies cried loudly being shielded away. "Kai you can fight it!" Nya urges her brother. "He cannot fight against my magic girl," The skull laughs. "Kai you are strong fight for the same reason you always fight for us, for Cole, for them," Lloyd said gesturing to Kai's children all crying scared. Kai's glowing green eyes dimmed and he twitches with the skull growling to show he was fighting it. "Run!" Kai's voice yells out clear as day as he collapses to his knees trying to fight the stupid skull's control on him.

The others did not need to be told twice and quickly started making their way pass the skeleton warriors. "Kill them all!" The skull orders as it took control of Kai again. The skeletons started to try and attack, but Zane uses his ice and created a giant ice wall that covered the cave entrance. The green skull growls and looks at it's puppet. "You fool! Your power is mine you belong to me! You shall never escape the magic of Haza'dur!" It yelled at him. "I don't belong to you and when my husband finds out what your doing to me he will annihilate you," Kai promises only to scream in pain at the magic the skull is using to punish him. "I will enjoy destroying him then with your own power," it laughs as Kai could only submit for now and save his energy for later.

Meanwhile the others had by some miracle made it to the surface in Shin-taro's gardens. Zane froze the exit they came from to keep them from being followed though he was pretty sure the skull had no interest in following them above. "Thank goodness oh sweet blue sky I have missed you!" Jay said in near tears.

Lilly, Onyx, and Oscar were all still crying loudly and badly making a large scene in the gardens. The people of Shin-taro quickly left as if they were a danger. "What is going on?" Lloyd asks when suddenly the palace guards of Shin-taro arrived on their golden wings with their spears and swords. King Vangless had his eyes light up seeing them and quickly yelled.

"Guards! These ninja have killed your princess, my daughter, and have been conspiring against our grand city with the evil dwellers of the mountain. This is one of those horrible primitive beasts," Vangless kicked poor unfortunate Gleck to the front of the group who cowers in front of the intimating guards. "Wait no! That's not what happened!" Lloyd tries to reason, but the guards were not having it.

"You heard the king men! Arrest the ninja for treason against Shin-taro's peace and for endangering infants!" Captain Hailmar orders his troops. King Vangless smiles wickedly as the guards closed in on the ninja and geckle not wanting to fight the guards since they were not bad, but just being mislead by someone taking advantage of their loyalty.

Suddenly though Hailmar pauses confused and put his hand up to signal his guards to stop as well. "What's that sound?" He asks in confusion as everyone noticed the rumbling noise and the shaking ground. The ninja realized what to do before anyone else and Zane yelled. "MOVE!"

Everyone ran for the cave exit in time to get out of the way of what broke through the previously beautiful and peaceful gardens. Luckily no one was hurt and once the dust had settled they saw what had broken the earth's surface.
