Icy battle

With the army due in the morning the villager settled for protecting the kids by making a underground tunnel with Kai's power. Though everyone told him not to he was ready to fight even if Cole had not return from the mountains yet. Kai was leading the charge with the others helping. Nya was in charge of leading the villagers to take out the soldiers, Jay was in charge of blocking any ice catapults, and Lloyd was gonna take on the ice dragon which he accepted. As everyone ran around getting ready for the army to arrive Echo stood off to the side head down. He came to rescue his brother and now he was gonna be fighting him. He also had no order to do anything he was not sure if Kai had forgotten him or if he was thinking of what to do with him. Echo wanted to fight to help save Zane and protect the village, but he was not like Zane or Pixal. He was not built to fight. Literally he was not built to take in any fighting.

Once everyone had gone off to their assignments Echo slowly left the room when Kai spoke up. "Echo come here," Kai said and Echo walked over to Kai at the table. "Yes?" Echo asks. "I know you don't want to fight Zane," Kai said. "But it's not Zane it's all Vex's fault," Echo defends. "I know, but it's my fault too," Kai said and Echo looked at him shocked. "I should have never helped Vex or turned my back. How many times I wish I had just left him and watched over Zane like I promised," Kai said looking to the ceiling. Echo was silently thinking before replying. "You blame yourself for the evil deeds of another. Besides helping Vex or not would have not meant a difference in how long it took for us to be here. Maybe destiny did you a favour by having yourself frozen then we would have never found you young instead of a old man or dead. Zane's a nindroid he doesn't physically age, but you do. So maybe Vex did you a favour," Echo said. Kai looked at Echo before rubbing his tired eyes. "I know your right, but Zane's gonna hate me for not being there for him," Kai said. "That is highly unlikely and even if true he will eventually forgive you. I bear no ill will toward you," Echo said. "Thanks that does help," Kai said. After a moment of silence Kai spoke again. "I have a important task for you in defeating Vex," Kai said. "I can't fight I am better off watching the children," Echo said. "Echo I'm going to face Zane," Kai said and Echo looked at him. "You can't! Your hurt and even if you were not he has the staff and under Vex's control would not hesitate to kill you," Echo warns Kai. "I know which is why you come in," Kai said looking at Echo. "Me?" Echo asked pointing to himself. "You have a hologram disguise like Zane right?" Kai asks. "Yes it was part of my new upgrades," Echo answers proudly. "Good I want you to shift into a soldier. While Vex is distracted you sneak up and take his tablet from him. It's what's controlling Zane. Once you get ahold of it destroy it then Zane should be able to use the staff to restore everything to normal," Kai explains. Echo looked a little hesitant before looking at Kai in the eyes with a look of determination. "Let's do this," Echo said and Kai nodded.

Next morning

The morning air was crisp and quiet as the sun rose turning the sky a rosy red the village could hear the stomping footsteps of the ice samurai army. Through a telescope Kai saw The emperor in a paliquin with Vex by his side as they approached the village. Everyone looked from Nya to the soldiers approaching since she would be the one to give the call. Cole still had not returned from the mountain and Kai was really worried about him and his furry friend. He had no time for that now. They only had one shot at this and if they didn't succeed they were gonna end up like the rest of the Never Realm, frozen solid.

The army stopped the march before a horn was blown and ice catapults were launched. Everyone took cover as Jay, Lloyd, and Kai blasted them. The ground soldiers were still waiting for Nya's command. Once the first wave was over the ice samurai charged and Nya cave her signal to charge and the villagers raised their weapons and charged. The ice dragon roared and attempted to freeze the soldiers, but Kai deflected the blast with his fire causing the dragon to make a dive to rebalance it's self giving Lloyd the chance he needed to jump onto it's back. Lloyd took care of the main threat while the ninja met the battle. Nya took on the general Gremfix while the Kai and Jay took on the army with the villagers. Jay took out five at a time and the villagers were making surprising headway as the soldiers had not reached the wall, yet. Akita was a animal both figuratively and literally as she switched back and forth from her wolf to human when need be frequently. Kai was absolutely fierce having a lot of bent up anger he needed to take out. He made ice ramps with his water that freezes almost instantly giving him the illusion he had control over ice before he melted them. Kai was making a fast head way to the emperor and some ice samurai tried stopped him, but it was almost useless. He reached the chariot. Some samurai tried moving in, but the emperor put a hand up to stop them.
