Attack on the wall

Cole woke up alone on the bed after falling asleep clutching Kai in his arms. At first he panicked not seeing Kai, but Jay noticed he was awake and panicking. "Hey chill buddy Kai went out to check the wall apparently some ice samurai tried attacking last night and took out a few watch towers were taken out," Jay informs Cole. "Okay, okay I'm gonna go see him," Cole said getting up to see Kai.

He got a few stares as he walked through the village, but he was used to it. He found Kai talking to a villager and showed up just to hear the end of the conversation.

"-the fortifications was taken out on the inside," the villager informs. Kai nods. "I'll inform Sorla don't tell anyone else," Kai said and the villager nodded. Kai spotted Cole and they made eye contact before Kai walked away in the opposite direction. Cole was confused, but didn't take the hint and followed Kai. He followed Kai until he just stopped and took a deep breath.

"Can you stop following me? I need to do stuff," Kai said. "I was hoping to come with you," Cole said a little awkwardly. "Sure why not?" Kai said. Cole follows Kai along as he walked to one of the bigger buildings. He walked in and Cole saw it was a daycare. Little babies were in cradles as a lady and younger boy were checking on them all.

"Fire Maker it's good to see you again," the lady said. "Yeah just came too check in on the kiddies do any of them need anything or to be taken care of?" Kai asks. The lady shook her head kindly. "No we have plenty of clothing to keep them warm, but who may this be?" The lady asks gesturing to Cole. "I'm Cole his husband," Cole introduces himself. The lady looked surprised. "You never said you have a husband," she said. "Okay Ms. Miller it was nice checking in goodbye," Kai said quickly leaving and Cole followed him.

"What was that about? You have been here almost two years and you never mentioned me?" Cole asks hurt. "Cole it hurt okay," Kai said stopping to look at Cole. "What did? Being married?" Cole asked harsher than he meant. "Cole please I thought I would never even see you again. So I just never talked about my past. None of these people know about any of you guys," Kai confesses. Cole suddenly felt very guilty. "How does it feel? To know we are alive and here?" Cole asks. "I'm afraid that if I blink you will disappear," Kai admits. Cole looked at his feet. "It feels the same here," Cole admits. "I wanted so badly to wake up and find you with me, but I always woke up alone. I had dreams of what had happened after I left some good most of them involved you all dying. I must admit I never really have had a break since being unfrozen," Kai admits. "Because it distracted you from having to grieve?" Cole asks. Kai crosses his arms and looked away. "Yeah," Kai admits.

"Well you don't need to grieve we will be home soon," Cole said than adds something he did not even realize was bothering him. "Do? Do you still love me?" Cole asks and Kai looked at him. "I've only been here for a year it would take a thousand life times for me to get over you," Kai said and Cole smiles. "Same here," he responds. It was silent after that before Kai asked. "Do you want to cuddle? I've missed it," Kai said. "Of course," Cole answers and Kai smiles taking Cole to a hammock and laying down on it motioning for Cole to join him which he does.

They talked and Kai told stories about his time here. He didn't really age much he was already the the third youngest in the group so he was only a month or two younger than Cole now instead of two years. He also apparently had some control over ice. Not nearly the same as Zane he could just levitate it with a lot of difficulty and small amounts.

"I have missed the triplets. I know it's only been a week for you, but how are they?" Kai asks. "It's been," Cole hesitates but knew he should just be honest. "It's been hard. I looked at them and see you and I would hold back tears, but it's been hard not too," Cole explains. Kai let out a small hum and hugs Cole closer listening to his heart beat. "Nya told me what you were thinking of doing," Kai said and Cole panics. "I don't blame you. If it was really that hard too look at them and loosing me so suddenly I would need some time as well, but I know you wouldn't have left them there forever or completely cut yourself out of their lives," Kai said and Cole looked at him tearing up. "How do you know that? Even I don't know if I would do that," Cole said. Kai kisses his jaw before settling back on his chest. "Because I know you. You care about your family. You might have not been there for them all the time like a normal father but you would still have been there for them and that is all I would have asked," Kai said. Cole hugs him closer. "Thank you I knew I needed you," Cole said feeling so much better. Kai smiles and they snuggled closer soaking in each other's warmth in blissful silence. But soon enough that was broken.
