Roulette was my grandmother's game not mine. That had always been apparent in the years of playing and losing. The only game I could never win. Even for her she seemed to have an unnatural nack for it. However in light of her passing it was the only game that felt right and I was going to stay here till I won.

I watched the roulette wheel land on red. I could've sworn it was going to be black. I huffed. Today my luck seemed to be a dumpster fire. I couldn't remember the last time I had this bad of luck.

Unfortunately bad luck, for me, meant I needed to do something and it would turn around the second I was faced with whatever the task was.

"Really?" I mumbled. The dealer gave me a sad smile and I twisted my ring.

The ring had also been my grandmothers. Emerald four leaf clover on a silver band. She'd given it to me a week before she died. It had always brought her good luck and thought it would carry over to me. However it seemed to bring me nothing bad luck because my life had been a disaster since I put it on. That had also been the second I got the call of her passing.

As soon as I slipped it on the pipes in my house exploded flooding the bathroom and kitchen. While it was being fixed I decided to use her room at the casino hotel nearby. This is what lead to my current development of g̶a̶m̶b̶l̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶l̶o̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶m̶o̶n̶e̶y̶ paying my respect to grandmother.

I held my last chip. I groaned and flipped it. I looked over the numbers. Nothing looked good. I had bet on everything more than once over past couple days. I looked at the chip. I should probably break it into smaller ones. I cringed. My luck has never been this bad! I went to hand it to James, the dealer.

"You look like you need lucky charm." A goose decked head to toe in green slouched on the table beside really close to me.

His presence made me pause. I could feel my luck do a backflip in my chest. That had only happened around people blessed by Tyche. There not there weren't many of them. I glanced at him. I couldn't help the overwhelming feeling of hate I felt for him. Maybe it was the way he held himself or maybe it was his smile that seemed too bright. Despite that I didn't make him move.

"That's the last thing I need." He raised an eyebrow. His presence made me want to be reckless. I turned back to the board. "Screw it."

I leaned towards the double zeros. The worst odds on the board. I dropped the black circle onto the number. Was I blowing $500 dollars to tell off a guy? Yes I did.

"Oh you like to take chances." He chuckled more of a statement then a question. I clutched the table's edge and glared at him instead of responding. He looked me over. "Pretty ring."

I mumbled a thanks and tucked my hand underneath the table. I turned my eyes to the ball. I saw him cast a bet out the corner of the eye. Even though my hand was under the table I could feel the man staring at it. It bothered me that he was staring but it felt nice that he connected with the power. I shook off the feeling as the wheel slowed and it fell into the bright green slot.

My eyes widened and I looked at the goose. What the hell? My grandmother had to be shitting me. This dude? What about him was so important?!

"What are the chances?" Said the goose like he knew something I didn't and smiled.

"Yeah," I twisted the ring, my voice dripping with sarcasm, "image the luck."

The dealer looked at both of, "Want to go again?"
