Original Darkwing Duck
Negaduck & Gosayln
BetrayalA/N: The title, (which means, And you?) is based on the last thing Julius Caesar said to his friend before he killed him.
They had another fight. He refused to train her to be a hero, so she sought out her own training. She thought the abandoned warehouse was just that. She hadn't expected to run into Negaduck. However, it was a good workout, and she was pretending it was Darkwing-taking her anger out on him. Her anger made her moves sloppier than normal, but she was still kicking his butt.
He wasn't one to dismiss talent on the rare occasions he saw it. She was a skilled fighter. Untrained but good. Even he had to admit that. He had size and experience on his side. He should've won immediately. Then again, he realized that she was practically fighting her father. She would know his moves. However, if that was the case, then why was she so sloppy. This should be well rehearsed.
He pinned her to the floor, and she grabbed his utility belt and slung herself through his legs. The belt busted and the gadgets rolled across the floor. Bombs and a gun land sporadically through the place. He grabbed the gun that skitted to a halt near his feet but she was just as fast as him. She took it and pointed the barrel at him.
"Go ahead, shoot me," Negaduck challenged.
He knew she wouldn't actually shoot him. Maybe a graze or near miss to get a point across. He never expected her to freeze. The barrel trimbled as she looked it over like she didn't know what to do.
Gosayln stared at him and thought about it. She was mad enough, too. The barrel was aimed at him and she was a great shot with her bow. Negaduck gun was heavy in her hands and it didn't have a safety. She knew that much. That wasn't the issue. She just had to pull the trigger. What was the problem?
"What's the matter? Never shot a gun before?" he mocked but the smirked fell when he realized. "That idiot never showed you how to shoot?"
That was safety 101 in the field. Even if wasn't the first lesson surely she had been taught gun safety. Had the idiot never trained her at all? Negaduck cursed to himself. He had trained his own Gosalyn the basic just for self protection and she had no want or skill to know about any style weapon. Though a lack of proper understanding would explain why she was so sloppy but that made her even more extraordinarily skilled to hold her own against him.
He marched towards her, not afraid she would suddenly change her mind, and snatched the gun. He checked it. Flipping through the bullets and clicking them back in place. She flinched at the sound and went to run, but he pulled her back.
He put the gun back into her hands and laid his hands over hers. They were calloused and strong; they held her in place. She didn't know what he was doing. Before she could asked Negaduck was speaking.
"It's not like your bow it's going to kick." He straightened her arms. "Aim for the logo on the crate."
"What?" she asked, but he didn't explain.
"Relax," he said into her ear. That was hard, with his warm breath brushing against their ear and his body pressing into her. "Breath."
She did. She focused on the weight of the gun and the slick handle in her grasp. She looked down the barrel and lined up the shot. She pulled the trigger. There was a flash and a bang; it shot her backwards into him. She blinked and looked at the target. The E on the McDuck Enterprises logo was nothing but a black smudge. She took in the smell of gunpowder. She trembled from the thrill. That had been awesome.
"You're a natural," he purred and it shook her out of her traces. "Knew you would be. My Gosalyn was a terrible shot."
"Why are you doin' this?" She was confused but excited. It felt weird being praised for training and not scolded.
"He didn't care enough to train you properly, then I'm going to," he growled and yanked her hands back up. "Again. The window."
She took a breath and aimed. This time she was prepared for the kick, but it still sent her flying back. The glass shared to the ground. A familiar sound but she couldn't stop a smile.
"Good job, kid," he actually sounded proud. She couldn't stand that.
"Stop it!" She tried to shake him off. His arm just held her in place.
"Stop what?" he asked confused. He hadn't done anything. He wasn't trying to do anything.
"Complementing me," she cried, and sounded too much like a kid for her own liking. "You're trying to get in my head."
"I'm not flattering you. I know talent when I see it," he whispered matter-of-factly.
A small frown graced her lips. That was an ache that she had buried and it threatened to resurface. How could her own father refused to see what his enemies saw.
"Why do care?" she whispered back as if she was scared of the answer.
"Because you might be someone actually worthy to fight if someone had taught you anything," he pressed. He rested one hand on her shoulder and the other under chin, making her look at him. "Dorkwing clearly didn't want you to develop your skills."
"That's none of your business. Get off me." She tried to shake him off.
She lowered the gun in the struggle. His hands tightened on her and his eyes harden.
"I could do it. If you want." He smirked at her gasp. "It wouldn't be hard."
Her heart raced. He could see her contemplating the offer. He hadn't expected to get this far. He waited, but he could see her shutting down. Reverting to her moral compass. He need to squash that.
"What do you say?" he pressed.
"I say there's a catch," she spat.
"Sharp kid. There's only one." She took a sharp breath and he knew he had her. "You kiss that Digwing goodbye."
Her eyes glinted dangerously at his name. She shifted. Her lips moved without her consent.
"That's all?"
"That's all. I'll do the rest." He smiled to himself.
She looked at the gun. She turned it over in her hands, then she looked at him.
"When do we start?"
He straightened her arms for another shot. "You just did."
