Gosalyn's life with Negaduck wasn't as bad as everyone thought. Everyone thought he had kidnapped her but it was Launchpad that had found her. Technically, she had found him. He was the one who had decided to rescue her from her past. Negaduck had just been supportive, as much as a villain of his stature could.

No one knew the story. She wasn't going to tell anyone but it was something she had to live with. People called them monsters and she knew they were bad people but to her they were always nice. The true monsters lived in her past...

The bull had kidnapped her and her parents and threw them in a FOWL holding facility to force her grandfather to work for him. Her grandfather actually liked her parents. The same couldn't be said of her. So she was fine with adjusting to the dim lights.

Taurus' poor temper was a different story. She knew Taurus had that potential of hitting her. Gosalyn, who believe the best in people, couldn't find any in him. No, he hadn't put her in a cell. That was no place for a child after all but her "room" had been no better. The man claimed to be a hero but everyone knew the truth that no one was truly a hero in this world.

However, her life at FOWL was a step up from before. It might've been a cell but she had her own bed and the agents kept her parents from hurting her. She knew it wasn't a good life but she tried to look on the bright side. FOWL was supposed to be the good guys but they didn't seem that way sometimes. She saw glimpses of the dark things that happened to the villains of this world, like her parents.

One day she saw Negaduck's head hitchman drug out of the integration room. She assumed the room was sound proof because there was no way, no matter how tough a person was, they could've stayed quiet and sustained those wounds. His bill was bleeding and his shirt was missing in parts revealing bruises running down his chest from his ribs and stomach. She watched as they threw him into a room a few down from hers.

She grabbed a first aid kit she had smuggled in with her. She checked the hall and dashed to the hurt duck's cell. She put in the combination to unlock the door and clicked open. She had always been good with memorizing things, which comes in handy when your life depended on it. She stepped in and the man stiffened.

"Hello?" She called out to him.

The room wasn't unlike hers. Only his only had a small bed that he was cruel up on while she also had a small desk with a few colors the agents had given her.

"Shit, you're just a kid," the man flinched. He was struggling to breath.

"Um, I saw you were hurt." She held out the first aid kit towards him.

"This is some sorta sick ass trick," he stiffened.

"No trick." She stepped forward so she could hand it to him. "My grandfather is, Dr. Waddlemeyer. He doesn't know I'm here."

The man seemed to know who that was because his eyes went wide. He took the box and used the contents as he talked. "I can't believe FOWL's got a kid locked up in here."

"It's not too bad." She forced a smile. "They keep my parents away from me and feed me but Mr. Bulba temper is worse than theirs."

"Yeah, he has a temper," he  agreed, grimacing at the kid's confesion.

"I'm Gosalyn by the way." She shifted her fingers through her dress. "But my friends call me Lyn."

The man was silent for a moment. Maybe he thought the girl was a trap but even if she was everyone here already knew his name. "I'm Launchpad."
