Attempt at comfort but it's Negaduck so....

"I taught you to pick locks and this is how you repay me?" Negaduck crossed his arms and glared at Gosalyn.

He was appalled at the scene in front of him. She was on her bed flipping the small golden lock in her hand reading what was clearly a journal. Not her journal obviously, so points for stealing.

She didn't look at him, just sliding the book under the sheets. The name on the book is what caused Negaduck's anger to flared. Why was she obsessed with the nerdy neighbor child?

Negaduck could see the sadness written on his daughter's face. He eased up on the glare and sat on the edge of bed.

"Tank won't talk to me." She fiddled with the edge of the blanket and Negaduck suppressed a smile. "And he doesn't want to hangout anymore."

Nega knew that. He had threatened the kid to stay away after he found out that the kid had a crush on his daughter. Still he shifted. He didn't like seeing her upset and he didn't know how to comfort her. That was usually Launchpad's department.

"You don't think he's mad at me, do you?"

"Who could be mad at you, Lyn?" He meant it but the words sounded unnatural so he shifted his approach. "Did the book give you what you were looking for?"

She shook her head. Good, he was in the clear.

"It's just a bunch of formula." She opened it. Negaduck noticed the hearts doodle in the corner and he narrowed his eyes suddenly wanting to burn the book. "I thought it was a journal but now I think it's more so Honker won't get into it."

"Don't worry about him, Lyn. You should be more focused on yourself," 'and me' went unsaid as he placed a hand on her shoulder. She slumped into herself.

"But he's my friend, why would he abandon me?"

"You're a Mallard, Gosalyn! You don't need him. You don't need anyone." He stood and marched towards the exit. 'No snot nose punk was going to take his little girl. No matter the price.'
