Everything in his life was perfect. He always got what he wanted and apparently he wanted me. I had no clue why he wanted me. I wasn't special or rich like him. The only thing special about me was my bleeding heart. I mean I was a nobody that he met at a club one day that offered him a place to stay for the night. The next thing I knew the gifts started showing up at my house and he asked me on dates. I felt compelled at first because he was sweet and there was no way to pay him back for things he gave me, which were expensive. Besides, no harm in hanging out with him. Right?

We went on several dates and I really liked hanging around him. He was cool, funny, and confident. That last bit was because of his luck. However, I first noticed things were wrong when he held a party at his house, correction mansion.

I showed about two hours early pre request.

"Gladstone, why am I here early if you had people to put out decorations?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Oh, I won a house party contest earlier. No big deal now I can give you a tour." He pulled me inside.

"Wow, this is amazing," I spun and his arms encircled me.

"Wait until you try the bed." He smirked. We got some looks but I didn't care.

"Oh yeah?" He lead me towards his room.

"Yeah." He said as we fell onto his bed and the doorbell rang. He whined, "No. Can we cancel the party?"

"Don't be rude." I pushed him off with a laugh and shiver went down my back.

Begrudgingly, he went downstairs and let some people in. Around eleven pm the house was full of people and music and some people were even swimming. Gladstone and I were resting our feet on a couch in the game room. I noticed that Gladstone hadn't really talked to anyone other than me since the first people arrived and my glass was empty.

"I'm going get some more." I stood from the couch where we had been sitting. He grabbed my hand but didn't say anything. "Want me to get you something?"

"No, I'm good." Someone tripped and spilled their beer on him. "Oh man! That smell never comes out!"

"Go change. I'll be here when you get back." He nodded and headed upstairs.

I walked to the bar area. There were coolers of beers everywhere but I wanted something stronger at the moment. I poured something at random. When I didn't see Gladstone after a minute I made my way to the pool area.

"Oh, I love this song." A buff dog said as he reached the cooler next to me. "Oh fancy, drinking top shelf liquor."

I looked at my drink. "I just need something with flavor."

"Oof, insulting my beer like that." He clutched his chest.

"Hey, call 'em like I see 'em." I held my hands up in surrender.

"Ight." He chuckled then pointed at the pool. "You gonna swim?"

"Don't have a bathing suit."

Before he could reply I shivered again and the sprinklers went off soaking both of us. The pressure valve must've broke because it pushed the man into the pool. Everyone laughed. I glanced up at the balcony and caught a glimpse of Gladstone walking away.
