Dear Journal,

Another successful day of counting my riches. It truly amazes me how much wealth I have accumulated over the years. Every gold coin, diamond, and valuable artifact that I possess brings me a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

However, these last couple of years after the twins departure have left the feeling that something is missing in my life. No matter how much money I have, I cannot buy happiness, love, or true friendships. Perhaps it is time for me to re-evaluate my priorities and start focusing on building meaningful relationships with the people around me.

But even as I contemplate this, the temptation of accumulate more wealth is difficult to put out of my mind even long enough to sleep. The thrill of discovering a new treasure or striking a profitable business deal is simply too strong.

I suppose I will continue on this path for now, but I will keep an open mind and heart. Who knows, maybe my newly acquired wards, my great nephews, may succeed in showing me that true wealth lies in something other than financial gain. Though there isn't much hope of that anytime soon.

Until then, I'll keep counting my coins and dreaming of the adventures and riches that await me.

Yours truly,
Scrooge McDuck
