None of you had slept for the rest of the night. Not after you had explained what you had seen. The doctor had calmed you enough that you had managed to describe the terrifying figure that had come creeping out from under Graham's bed. This was not the first time when travelling with the doctor, that something straight out of a nightmare had appeared in your reality.

You did have to hide a giggle as you explained, when Graham, Ryan and Yaz quickly tucked all their limbs firmly in the bed, not even the thin blankets were hanging over the sides.

"Why would they do that? They are obviously aware and threatened by our presence here" the doctor thought out loud.

"They won't do it again, will they?" Ryan questioned, looking uneasy.

"Scared?" you teased.

"I wasn't the one who woke everyone up screaming" Ryan replied, with a smirk.

"Heyyy" you scowled, "You would have done the same if you had seen that thing" you argued.

"Sure" he laughed.

You saw something come flying across the room towards Ryan and realised that Yaz had thrown her jacket at him. He let out a high-pitched scream and jumped about a foot in the air of his bed.

The rest of you burst out laughing, whilst Ryan realised what had happened.

"Very funny" Ryan grumbled, throwing the jacket back at Yaz.

"At least I'm not scared of a jacket" you laughed.

Ryan folded his arms and sat in the middle of his bed, you and Yaz were trying to hide your laughter.

"It's ok to be feeling scared or on edge, we all have a perfectly good reason to be feeling that way" the doctor explained.

You looked at her and nodded, she was right.

"I think it's time we found out what the carrionites are up to and why they are here" the doctor suggested, standing up and offering her hand to pull you up, which you accepted.

"And to explain to them that we don't want any more visits in the middle of the night" Graham added.

"That too" the doctor grinned.

"Let's go do some more investigating" the doctor continued to grin.

"Alright, Sherlock" you laughed, linking your arm through hers.

"Very clever man" the doctor said looking at you, "almost as clever as me" she added with a scronch.

"You're kidding, have you actually met him?" you wondered in amazement.

"I thought he was just fictional... just a story" Graham said, looking confused.

"All great stories have some elements of truth within them" the doctor said as her eyes lit up with wonder.

You looked into them, thinking about all the extraordinary things they had seen. Her eyes told thousands of stories from thousands of years, the most beautiful, yet sometimes heart- breaking journeys had been seen through them. Tales from throughout the universe and all of time and space... wonder, excitement, kindness, empathy, and loss were all reflected inside of them. Her eyes contained so much of the universe and in that moment, you remembered how much she meant to you. She was your universe.

"Everything ok?" the doctor whispered.

You realised you must have just been staring at her for a moment.

"Yeah" you smiled.

"You looked a little bit lost" she laughed.

"This is right cheesy but I kinda got lost in your eyes" you laughed.

You could see her cheeks turn a hint of pink.

"I was just thinking of everything that you have seen, the stories that your eyes can tell" you continued. You were now heading through the corridors of the hotel, towards the exit. Graham, Ryan and Yaz were following behind.

"I've seen many things (y/n), so much love, happiness and hope, but it's not always that way, there is also death, destruction, pain and loss, there are always two sides to a story" the doctor whispered to you, the light seemed to dull slightly inside of her eyes.

"Tell me about it, my life has been full of its ups and downs" you replied.

The doctor squeezed you gently into her side.

"I was just thinking of how much of the universe you have seen...how amazing you are...how much you mean to me" you mumbled.

"Life is full of ups and downs, the good and the bad, the darkness and the light. You once told me that we are all become stories in the end and to just make it a good one" you grinned.

"Ah, yes, that was something I picked up from a bow tie wearing friend of mine, great advice, however, the fish fingers and custard on the other hand...not so good" the doctor mumbled.

"What?" you questioned.

"Nothing" the doctor laughed.

"Well... my life has been so much better since you've been in it" you said.

"And you make me see the universe in a whole new light" the doctor said, looking into your eyes with her brilliant ones.

You blushed and pulled her face towards yours, kissing her gently.

"I thought we were supposed to be witch hunting" You heard Graham mumble behind you.

You completely forgot the others were there!

"We are" you muttered, turning around to see them smirking at you.

"Well, unless there is a carrionite hiding inside the doctor's mouth...we don't seem to be getting very far" Yaz grinned at you.

"Oy!" you glared at her.

"Very funny Yaz, however, I don't think that would be possible...up the nose however..." the doctor began.

You all started to laugh.

"Sorry, we were just having a conversation" you explained.

"uh huh" Yaz smirked.

"You can't keep your eyes off each other!" Ryan added.

"Not to mention your mouths" Yaz smirked.

"Look, we are almost at the exit" Graham laughed, changing the subject, and heading forwards.

You all stepped out into the fresh, warm, and refreshing air.

"What are we looking for doctor?" Graham asked.

"I'll keep an eye above, see if there is anyone about on a broomstick" Ryan joked.

"Good idea" the doctor nodded.

"What? I was joking!" Ryan laughed.

"Well, it has been known" the doctor said with wide eyes.

"Really?" he replied, a scared look appearing in his eyes.

"However, I think they'll be on the ground, trying not to draw attention to themselves" the doctor explained, "For now" she added.

"I think a good place to start is by asking around, see if anyone has symptoms of the plague yet or if anyone has seen anything unusual" the doctor instructed.

"Good idea doc" Graham nodded.

"How about Ryan and I head left and you three head right? We could knock on doors, ask some questions and then meet up the other side of the square?" Graham asked.

The doctor looked slightly apprehensive, but slowly nodded her head.

"Ok but be careful!" she said.

Ryan and Graham nodded, beginning to head off.

"And do not engage if you do happen to bump into them...just run, they will try to manipulate you, torture you or even kill you" the doctor quickly shouted.

"Just run" Ryan repeated, "Not a problem" you heard him say.
