The night had been long and uncomfortable. You were not able to get any sleep. You felt a constant cold gust of wind that made you shiver, and the hard, rough floor, offered no comfort.
Your face constantly throbbed from where you had been punched and every time you moved, you felt a sharp, stabbing pain, shoot to your injured ribs.
You watched as the sun rose, the light entering through the one small window in your cell. You found yourself transfixed, watching as the light scaled up the wall as the sun climbed higher in the morning sky.
Emmeline managed to get some sleep beside you. You still could not believe that you were in the presence of such an inspiring woman. Her actions had changed and created a better world for you to live in today.
You watched as she stirred and slowly opened her eyes, offering you a warm smile.
"Morning" she said.
You smiled at her.
"Did you sleep at all?" she asked, seeing that you looked wide awake.
"No" you admitted.
"You look exhausted" she said sadly.
"I feel it" you sighed.
You suddenly heard the sound of squeaky hinges, as the cell door was pulled opened. You turned to see two policemen standing at the entrance. Luckily, the one you had encountered yesterday, was not there.
"It's time for you two to be released" one of them explained.
"Your names and addressing were taken yesterday, you will be given a copy of your charges and fines on your way out" he finished.
You had to think on your feet yesterday and provide a false name and quickly think of an address. You could not use your real one, as right now, you technically hadn't even been born yet! You were glad no one had become suspicious.
You went to stand up but had to stop, placing your hand to your side, and letting out a grown of pain.
Emmeline rushed to your side and carefully helped you up. You had to put your arm around her shoulder and lean on her for support to walk.
You felt exhausted, physically, and mentally. You didn't like being confined to such a small space and your injures and lack of sleep were catching up with you.
You stumbled down the corridor, Emmeline by your side, the two policemen walking behind you.
You came to the prisons entrance hall and stood in a line to collect your letter.
"(y/n)!" you heard a beautifully familiar voice shout.
You turned and could see the doctor waiting in another queue, Yaz was grinning behind her.
"Doctor...Yaz!" you exclaimed, an overwhelming feeling of joy, running through you.
"Stay in your line Madam" a policeman quickly told the doctor, as she went to head over to you.
She shot him an unimpressed look and crossed her arms to her chest in a huff.
You couldn't help but giggle a little.
"Is that your girlfriend?" Emmeline asked you.
"Yep" you grinned.
You both were handed your letters of charges.
Emmeline placed a supportive arm around you again and helped you over to the exit.
You could see the doctor and Yaz were nearly at the front of their queue, the doctor kept popping her head out of the line and grinning at you, earning herself a few more words from the policeman.
