A Sky Full of Stars - 13th Doctor x Reader

Accusations

The doctor rushed to the man's side; he was still staring straight ahead at where the witch had just stood. His mouth was gaping open and his eyes were practically popping out of his head.

"Hey, it's ok" the doctor said gently.

He seemed to try to speak but he wasn't able to find the words.

"I'm the doctor and this is Yaz and (y/n)" the doctor explained whilst she took the man's wrist in her hand and began checking his pulse.

"What's your name?" she questioned.

"He's name is Stefano and I'm Valentina" the old women said as she entered the room behind you all.

"What's happened to him? He looks awful, he didn't look that bad a while ago?" she asked.

The doctor pulled out a stethoscope from one of her bigger on the inside coat pockets.

"Hi Stefano" she said softly, "I'm just going to listen to your heart" she explained, placing the stethoscope in her ears and on various parts of his chest, listening intently.

"You need to take some slow and deep breaths; your heart is beating very quickly" the doctor instructed.

Stefano looked at her with his wide open, dark and old eyes.

"What's wrong with him?" Valentino asked, with concern in her voice.

"What was that?" he finally blurted out.

"What is he talking about?" his wife questioned.

"At the end of the bed...I saw a...a..." he mumbled.

"A what?" his wife asked.

"I can only describe it as a witch!" he exclaimed.

"What have you done to him?" Valentino asked accusingly, looking straight at the doctor.

"She's done nothing" you replied harshly. 

"We found him like this" Yaz added.

The doctor brought out her sonic and began to scan Stefano with it.

"What is that strange device?" Valentino questioned.

"Sonic screwdriver" the doctor replied, "Fancy bit of kit, I'm just checking your husband's vitals" she explained.

"I've never seen anything like it before" Valentino continued.

"We come from far away, our equipment is a bit more advanced then around here" Yaz explained.

"What is wrong with him? He was feverish before but now you have turned up and he is talking of witches and you are waving that strange wand of yours over him!" Valentino said, fear appearing in her eyes.

"Leave" she instructed.

"All of you, out!" she shouted, pointing to the door.

"I can assure you; this has nothing to do with us. Your husband is terribly ill Valentino, he has an extremely high temperature which has caused him to hallucinate, he needs to stay inside. It is vital that you do too, please don't leave your home!" The doctor begged.

"I will do as I please" Valentino snapped, as you all began walking down the stairs and out of the door.

"You don't understand!" The doctor tried to reason with her but just got the door slammed in her face.

"Well... that went well" the doctor said sarcastically, letting out a huge sigh.

"This isn't good doctor" Yaz said.

"We've only just turned up and there's talk of witches and she accused you of having a wand" Yaz explained.

"It wouldn't be the first time I've been accused of being a witch" the doctor mumbled.

"Exactly" Yaz said.

"You were almost drowned last time" she added.

"Ah yes, thank goodness for Houdini!" the doctor said.

"What?" you questioned.

"I'll tell you another time" the doctor said with a scronch.

"This town doesn't seem to like visitors, best we lay low for a while" the doctor instructed. 

"Did he have it doctor?" you asked, "Is this the start of the plague?".

"Yes" she replied, hurt in her eyes.

"I tried to warn her, but she won't stay inside! In a few days, this town will be riddled with cases" the doctor sighed.

"We need to find Graham and Ryan" she said.

Just as she said that you could see them both walking towards you in the distance.

You waved your arms in the air to bring attention to yourselves and you gained a wave back as they walked towards you.

"There's not many friendly folks around here, is there?" Graham asked as they joined you.

"I don't think they're too fond of visitors" you replied.

"Same for you too, huh" Ryan said.

"We knocked on a few doors, but they didn't seem to like being asked questions" he added.

"We ran into the town leader who irritated the hell out of the doctor, saw a carrionite and found someone with the starting symptoms of the plague" Yaz replied.

"No fair, why do you guys get to have all the fun!" Ryan exclaimed, causing the doctor to look at him disapprovingly, rolling her eyes.

"We need to all get back to the hotel" the doctor instructed.

You all turned to leave but something out of the corner of your eye caught your attention.

You had been stood close to a darkened alleyway; a crooked and abandoned wooden house could be seen at the end.

The thing that had caught your attention was the rats. There were several of them scurrying around, stopping to itch behind their ears, then darting towards the house.

"Wait!" you said, realising that the others had begun to walk off and were a little distance away.

You knew you should have got their attention, but you watched as the door to the crooked house slowly creaked open.

You knew you shouldn't head towards it but it was like something was drawing you inside. The hairs on the back of your neck stood up and you could feel your heart hammering inside your chest as you began walking down the alley, it was as if your legs were acting on their own accord.

You were now standing right outside the slightly open door.

You could hear voices, high pitched and shrill, talking and sniggering together.

You placed your hand on the door, pushing it forwards carefully, trying to not make a sound and to open it just the right amount for you to squeeze through.

You could hear your own heartbeat inside your ears and did not dare to even breathe just in case that was too loud, as you creeped inside.

You could see a door ajar down the end of the corridor, candlelight danced around its edges, casting shadows on the walls either side.

You knew instantly who the shadows belonged to, the crooked, pointy noses and their cackling voices gave them away.

You could hear them plotting something but were too far away to hear clearly. You began to cautiously creep closer towards the door...
