Warning: some references to abuse and death.

You got into bed, you hated how empty it felt without the doctor. She made you feel so warm and safe.

You could slightly feel the affects of the alcohol you had drunk, but it was not enough to numb your brain. You curled up into a ball and tried to get to sleep. It took a while, but you slowly drifted off.

"You were a mistake, I never wanted you!" you could hear your father shouting at you. "You always get in the way, your useless" his words cut deep into you.

Then you felt the pain, the bone shattering, gut wrenching pain.

The pain that covered every inch of your body as you were punched, kicked, thrown about, and beaten in anyway possible.

You could not make him stop, you were a child, an innocent defenceless child. You just had to take the pain and the continuous blows. You could do nothing apart from scream in agony...

You were suddenly In the park, playing with your younger brother. "Alfie" you called laughing. "you better run because I'm going to catch you!" you laughed.

You could see him giggling and running in the opposite direction to you as fast as he could.

You gave chase, hearing him laughing like crazy, as he could see you running his way.

You manged to catch up to him and pulled him into your arms, you both toppled over, laughing hysterically, you began tickling him, he giggled and laid his head in your lap.

"I love you" he smiled.

You looked into his wonderful blue eyes and kissed him on the forehead. "I love you to Alf" you giggled.

He suddenly jumped up of you and began running again, "you won't catch me this time" he laughed.

"Oh, yes I will" you laughed beginning to run after him again.

You were so close to him, you reached out your arm but he suddenly stopped.

You realised something was wrong, "Alfie, is everything ok?" you asked.

He turned towards you.

All the colour had drained from his face, his eyes were no longer shining. His face was contorted with such pain. He fell to the ground.

"ALFIE!" you shouted, running towards him and moving him into your arms.

You felt like your heart had been ripped out of your chest, "no" you said gently shaking him.

His body felt cold and limp, "You can't go.. you can't be gone..." you were sobbing, holding him close to you.

Your eyes suddenly shot open and you couldn't breathe. You tried to take in a breath, but you were panicking and struggling. You hugged your legs to your chest and pulled yourself into the foetal position.

You rocked yourself back and forth, trying to remember how to breathe properly. You realised that their were tears running down your cheeks. You managed to take a few deep breaths. It took a while but you finally managed to calm yourself down enough so that you could at least breathe properly.

You wished that the doctor was by your side, comforting you and calming you down. You remembered how angry you had made her. You were alone.

Alone and afraid.
