happy reading, :)
"Knock knock." I call as I push open Cole and Nova's front door.
They were my parent's close friends. We all grew up together, like me and my siblings and their daughter.
I call for her. "November are you here?"
"Lottie?" She calls back from the kitchen and I grin, letting myself in and shutting the front door behind me.
It was almost eight o'clock on a Monday morning. Dad had already left to prepare for an early meeting, Cole and Dad work together, so I assume he was gone too. Mum had gone into school early and so I woke up in the house alone.
Now I am seeking attention and hopefully breakfast.
I walk into the kitchen to see my Auntie Nove making some scrabbled egg on the stove and I smile angelically.
"I woke up alone." I complain.
"Poor baby." She laughs and nods for me to sit down at the counter.
I grin and make my way across the room. "I have to get myself to school as well which would be super easy if I still had a boyfriend, but nope I don't, and nor do I have parents."
She laughs, looking down at the pan and shaking her head.
"It's a ten minute walk, if that." She informs me as if I didn't know this.
"But it's so cold." I say, frowning.
"You could get your license, you know. Your parents keep trying to-"
"Nope, nuh-uh I will kill someone."
"No you won't." She laughs at me. Then she looks up. "I am leaving in half an hour, I suppose I could-"
I grin.
She laughs, telling me I was ridiculous but then with love giving me a plate full of toast and egg.
She comes and sits beside me, eating hers as well.
"You know, every night there has been a lot of traffic along this road. Weird since, well, you know- it's a one way street."
I hum. "Yeah, I have been hearing it too. It's so weird."
She laughs at me. "Lottie."
I scoop egg in my mouth, concentrating on eating.
She's gonna tell mum on me.
She's staring at the side of my face and I lift my eye slowly to side glance her.
Nova laughs at me.
"Come on." I groan. "Please don't tell mum."
"Sweet, they were literally boasting about how well behaved you've been since the start of your last year. We were talking about Emersyn's little reckless phase and your mum was saying how she thinks you had it early on so you won't give them any more hassle."
I nod along. "Yeah." I mumble. "Exactly."
"You've been sneaking out." She states.
I scrunch my face up. "Nah, no I haven't. They know I leave."
"Okay so If I asked your mum-"
"November." I whine. "Why are you destroying my life right now? I just wanted some love."
She is smiling at me, amused. But I am pouting, trying to get her to feel sorry for me.
"I realised now that my daughter was just crap at hiding things from us. You are better at it."
