"What is this?" She held up the shoes with a furious expression. Minho avoided her gaze. Did they really have to have this discussion over and over again? "You have been going out doing this again, doing this, right?" his mother raised her voice. Minho's knuckles almost bleached as he tried to keep himself composed in front of her.
"For god's sake, Lee Minho, stop this nonsense!"
The anger within Minho had begun to build up as he felt the rage whirling inside him. He tried to bite his lip to prevent him from saying anything back, yet the words still escaped his mouth. "Do you really think you know what's good for me? Hell, you don't even care about me!"
His mother turned around to him, her eyes almost bloodshot red. "This. You see this?" She held up the shoes again. "Ridiculous and a waste of time!" she screamed, throwing them across the room. The maid who stood in the corner anxiously dodged just in time or she would have got hit by the object that was flying her way.
His mother closed her eyes, calming her breathing before her voice lowered. "You will regret doing this, Lee Minho." She pointed at him accusingly. Minho stood up from his seat, a violent look in his eyes. "Why can't you both just let me do what I want for once?" he yelled back. His mother grinned whilst letting out a scoff, clearly not amused nor impressed. "Dancing?" She raised her eyebrow.
She chuckled. "Don't make me laugh."
"This is a joke. Nobody would want you," his mother emphasized.
He cast his gaze down, even though these words were told to him every so often. He's used to it by now, yet he couldn't lie to say it cut pretty deeply. Minho had gotten yelled at, told off, and ridiculed for what he did most of the time. He had to hear how useless and ridiculous his hopes and dreams were and at first, it really upset him but as time passed by he had grown numb to it.
Once again Minho was left alone in his room after the door shut in its lock, the bang echoing through the space. He flopped down on his bed, letting the silk sheets engulf him. But, something was missing, or rather, someone was missing.
The next day in school Chan, Hyunjin, and Minho sat together around a table, the bustling atmosphere of plates and pointless chatter sounding through the canteen. Minho twirled the fork aimlessly around in his food, refraining from eating a single bite. "What's up with the gloomy look today?" Hyunjin frowned his eyebrows after chewing a bite he stole from the other's untouched food. Minho shook his head. "Nothing, just tired that's all." Hyunjin sent a look to Chan who eyed him as well. "You and Jisung didn't fight, right?" Chan asked. Minho kept pricking a piece of a food chunk, lost in thought again. He let out a long breath. "No, that's not it."
"You just said it was nothing, but it doesn't seem like it," Hyunjin pointed out while Minho just rolled his eyes in response. "There's nothing!" He crossed his arms and leaned back in his seat. "Just leave it." Hyunjin shook his head while Chan just sighed. Nothing happened? Yeah, sure.
"Why did you even ask me to hang out?" Jisung whined while dragging himself.
"Jisung, you haven't left the house for days! Plus, if we don't drag you out, then who will?" Felix exclaimed, earning a pout from the other. "I loved it in there though.." Jisung dreaded like a child that just got told off by their mom. "Besides," Seungmin spoke. "We are great company," he stated full of confidence. Jisung looked at him unamused. "Yeah, sure, very funny. This is basically the two of you going on a date and me being the third wheel like usual. Such great company you are." Seungmin rolled his eyes, ignoring his complaints completely. Felix broke off their argument. "The two of you, stop bickering. Let's grab something to eat so you stuff some food in your mouth instead."
